• Getting good reliable time series data is still a challenge.
• Wavelet Denoising• Uses wavelet decomposition to remove “noise”
• Remove the Gaussian noise from a signal
• Transient noise analysis, e.g. door slam
• Kalman Filter • An example of machine learning
• Removes noise by using a physics model that predicts, given the current point, where the next point will be.
• Example: GPS data cleaning built into the GPS Processing glyph
• New worked example #26 ‐ Data Cleaning with the KalmanFilter Glyph

Cepstrum analysis• Is it harmonic?• …by looking for patterns in the frequency
domain.
• Used as machine diagnostics to detect faults in rotating machinery…
• ...as well as other applications such as echo detection and removal.

• This glyph performs a Stationarity Test on time series data.
• Currently has the Kolmogorov‐Smirnov (KS) option.
• This test is a non‐parametric test of the equality of two probability distributions (PDFs).
• By comparing the PDFs of two data segments, it is used to determine statistically whether they both come from the same population.

• The time signal is divided into a number of shorter segments and the PDF of each segment is compared with the PDF of the entire signal.
• Segments which deviate significantly from the overall signal are clearly identifiable in the output.
• Stationarity is required for vibration fatigue analysis and other vibration analysis processes.

• The Hilbert Transform is used to create either the envelope of a time signal, or the frequency between adjacent points as a train of pulses.
• Use of Hilbert’s envelope:• Determine the damping or decay rate at resonances, from the impulse response function
• Estimate propagation time, from the cross correlation function
• Diagnose bearing faults
• Use of Hilbert’s frequency:• Calculate frequency vs. time signal

• XY Display glyph• Metadata limits for the x‐axis can now be defined on a per channel basis to auto zoom to
different section of overlaid lines.
• The number of x‐axes on an overlay plot can now be user defined. The user can select which channels use which axis and the selection is indicated on the legend.
• Waterfall Display glyph• Annotations like text and arrows can now be added to waterfall plots.
• nCode Viewer• When showing an XY Display, the viewer can now optionally display the full legend as a
table below the plot area.
• It is now possible to save and load configuration files to control the setup of the various displays (requires a GlyphWorks license to be available).

• Integration and differentiation glyphs• Time domain based integration/differentiation (or double) can now be carried out in the
frequency domain based on Histogram data.
• For example, convert an acceleration spectrum to velocity or displacement.
• Materials Input glyph• This glyph now supports any defined material type for the option
OutputType=MetaDataOnly, which includes custom materials.
• MATLAB Scripting glyph• This glyph now supports complex frequency input and output data
• Also supports version 2015a of MATLAB.
• UnitsConversion glyph• When using Histogram data, a new option has been added that allows conversion
between different spectrum types
• For example, convert a frequency spectrum from g2/Hz to (m/sec2)2/Hz

Key Features:• Experimental Modal Analysis identifies modes
of vibration and extract modal parameters
• Provides a regenerated FRF to compare with the measured one and assess the quality of the modal parameters extraction.
• Corrects for residual modes outside the frequency band of interest for a more accurate curve fit.
• Operating Deflection Shapes to visualise the vibration patterns of a structure
• Flexible inputs such as FRF to animate mode shapes or time domain signals to display operating displacements.
Product Overview:Modal Analysis is a specialized product option within nCode VibeSys that provides the ability for engineers to answer questions such as:
• What are the modal frequencies?
• What is the mode shape at a specific frequency?
• What are the modal damping ratios?
• How good is my modal FE simulation compared to modal tests?

Key Benefits:• Enhance FE modelling by providing reliable damping ratios • Validate FE results by comparing modal frequencies and mode shapes with the
experimental tests. • Rapidly compare different designs in terms of their dynamic properties• Troubleshoot noise and vibration problems• Perform Structural Health Monitoring by tracking changes in modal parameters
due to damage.

• Also known as curve fitting or modal parameter estimation.• The measured FRF is basically broken down into the principal components that
make up the measured data – into many Single Degree of Freedom (SDOF) systems
• Results are: modal frequencies fi, damping ratios ξi, and mode shapes
