PRESIDENTS NOTES

It’s that time again, time to gather together have fun and try to learn something in the

Process. This class is going to be Tubular Lock Servicing taught by Jim Watt CML,CPS. There is a

PRP available for this class and it will take place after the class. We’ll be having class at the Hy-Vee

store like we did last year. There is a block of room for the NLA at the Sleep Inn, please make your

reservation before April 13; after this date the rooms will be released. The class size is set for 30

people, please call me before the class so an accurate count can be made. I have a new e-mail

Friday night we’ll gather at the hotel about 6:00 P.M. For supper. After that we’ll go to the Hy-Vee

This is a lecture and hands-on training, the student will learn about tubular key locks and keys, the differ-

ence between manufacturers locks, the variety of locks each manufacturer produces, de-coding the tubular

key and lock, servicing a tubular key lock, changing combination of a tubular key lock and Impressioning a

tubular key. A short examination will be given and Class Certificates will be issued.

MATERIALS NEEDED TO BRING FOR THIS CLASS

Small hammer

Dial or digital micrometer James M Watt, CML CPS is one of the top instructors for

Pin tweezers teaching these classes. Jim has taught before for us and

James M. Watt, CML CPS started locksmithing in

Seattle in May 1975. James moved to Missoula, MT and

purchased Art & Ray’s Lock and Safe in 1976. Jim joined

ALOA in 1977. Jim Co-founded the Montana Locksmith

Association in 1984. In 1987 Jim was elected to the ALOA

Board of Directors and then as Northwest Vice President

Until 1997. He is a recipient of the Lee Rognon Award &

The Philadelphia Award.

Everyone will meet at the hotel and go to supper at 6:00 P.M. After sup-

per all will meet at the Hy-Vee Grocery Store for a evening of enjoy-

ment. This is for everyone. Wives, kids, friends, and all.

NEW UNKNOWN TOOLS NOT SOLD

I am excited to show many new things. You will be shown how to com-

pletely install a Unican 1000 in 10 minutes on any door, 100 percent

straight. (This is a complete different drilling method). Put lever han-

dles on any doors in less then 10 minutes, 100 percent straight not using

the door edge.

Opening the 4 wheel realtor's locks when you do not have a code in

less then a minute. Opening the rectangular plastic realtors boxes (New)

by finding the code in a couple of minutes. Everyone will receive codes

for opening the 10 push button realtor’s boxes.

I will be showing an on screen video of how to open safes, (gun & oth-

ers) with electronic locks or manual on them without drilling them. De-

feating tripped relockers with out drilling the safe.

Anyone that has any shortcuts they have found, bring them and share.

Hear the horror stories I have on opening one of the worst safes made in

USA for the Army.

Elmer Howard and in coming Vice

President Eugene Hansen. Eugene is our

web master also and has been for many

years.

Our new President Ryan Andersen pre-

sents Elmer Howard a nice plaque for his

many years of service to NLA. Elmer has

held an officer position or Editor position

for app. 20 of his 25 years with NLA.

Here new Vice President Gene Hansen is

congratulating Dale Voigt for his many

years of service he has given NLA. Dale,

not only holding officer positions would

do things like donating pop and etc. when

the classes come to Norfolk. Dale was

always there helping when not even asked.

Friday evenings are great times at our quar-

terly meetings. Ruth Karlsson was our guest

speaker from Nebraska Dept. of Revenue.

She and her assistant really break down the

right and wrong of taxing. These laws change

many times so if you missed out on this class it

was a shame.

of new things were being talked about. Ed Woods

did a terrific job. Many of the questions he could

answer with part numbers included, without looking

anything up.
