Respect Assembly Students in grades kindergarten through third will be seeing a “Stop and Think” presentation performed by the educational
theatre company, RESPECT. The purpose of this assembly is to teach students how to identify bullying and strategies they can
use if they are being bullied. We invite you to join us in the audience on January 25th at 1:45.
Betz STEM Night Fundraiser This year, we are asking for donations to help purchase the supplies for Betz’s annual STEM Night. What is STEM? STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. On this night, families have the opportunity to spend the evening learning and exploring with one another. Students will be engaged in enjoyable activities and experiments throughout the school, such as: launching straw rockets, creating 3-D geometric shapes, playing math games, building circuits, constructing bridges, learning coding, and controlling robots. Your donations will be greatly appreciated! ________________________________________________________________________ To make a donation:
1. Go to DonorsChoose.org 2. Search for “Betz STEM Night” 3. Type in the amount of money you would like to give and
follow the payment steps **Until January 24, 2016, you can type in the promo code “LIFTOFF” during payment and all donations will be doubled by DonorsChoose (up to $100)**

Problem Solving at Betz We strive for students to become successful problem solvers.
In order to accomplish this goal, we teach students appropriate ways to handle conflict. Some of these strategies include: walking away, telling a person if they have hurt them or their feelings, asking a person to stop, ignoring distracting or frustrating behaviors, or reporting problems to the closest adult.
It is important that students report problems to adults because it provides the Betz staff and administrators the opportunity to address concerns immediately. In addition, reporting conflicts to our staff helps us to deescalate problems before they become more serious and to identify persistent problems. We want our students to feel safe and respected at school. For this reason, please encourage your child to immediately report any problems they may be having in school to our staff members.

First of all I love the staff and students. Everyone is
so friendly and ready to make each day special. I couldn't have asked for a better school to teach in. Secondly, I love that the

What I Love Betz Elementary School!
I think Betz has an amazing staff who truly care about the
students and want to help them be successful!
I went to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. I taught for the gifted elementary program as well as 7th grade English in my hometown of Treynor, Iowa, for 4 years. In 2003 we moved to Nebraska and I started teaching in Bellevue. I've been at Betz since then! I also have taught at many other buildings as a traveling teacher: Belleaire, Bellevue, Birchcrest, Central, Fort Crook,
LeMay, Peter Sarpy, and Twin Ridge.
My Family My husband's name is Luke, and he works as a sales manager for Charleston Homes. We have 3 children:
Haylie is 10 and in 5th grade and she loves dance, art, and anything that has to do with frogs! Noah is 8 and in
3rd grade and he loves tae-kwon-do and Legos. Brooklyn is 4 and in preschool. She loves playing dress
up and all things princess!
