Who do you know likes to walk, should go for a walk, or would sponsor you to walk? Organize your scout group, your book club, and your family and friends to come and have fun walking.

The walk-a-thon will raise awareness for the “No Child Left Inside” movement, provide outdoor fun with a 5K walk through the Gardens and Whitnall Park, and raise funds for children’s horticultural education at Boerner Botanical Gardens. To participate, collect $50 or more in pledges before the day of the walk ($50 for individual walkers—$200 combined total for teams). Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers.

The UW-Extension Horticulture Center at Boerner Botanical Gardens offers university research-based information to home gardeners. Stop by for help answering your yard and garden questions. Find out more about the online, print, and person-to-person resources available through UW-Extension.

The Horticulture Center is open Monday through Friday 10 am to 2 pm. From October 1 through May 1 the center will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm.

The Horticulture Center is designed for walk-in visits. It is not currently staffed to answer questions by phone or e-mail. For answers to your questions by phone, please contact the UW-Extension office in your county.
