Neverland fosters a loving, nurturing environment where your childwill receive individual attention, social interaction, and positive

reinforcement. Neverland is not just childcare when you are away, it isa home. Our family is your family.

An advantage to our small selection of children is that your childreceives all the time, care and individual attention he/she needs.

While at Neverland, your child will participate in developmental age-appropriate activities.

Some of these include: Age-level puzzles

Shape/number gamesLearning songs

Outdoor play (when available)Group Story time

Seasonal art projectsThemed movie days

Each day your child attends Neverland Child Care, you are of theiractivities both verbally (upon pickup) and electronically (through our

social media page, allowing you to view activities and your child’sparticipation, and via phone or text conversations as necessary). Parentswill be informed on: how their child(ren) interacted, rested, ate, played, etc. This will allow you to feel a part of their day and keep track of their

schedule.

Being a mother myself, I know how difficult it can be to find reliable, quality care. At Neverland we are a family. Each child is treated with

respect, kindness, and love; just as I treat my own.

I graduated for Morningside College with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and ReadingEndorsement. I possess an Iowa Teaching License. In addition, have CPR (including infant and child) and

First Aid certification.

I am cooperatively involved with both Iowa Child Care Resource and Referral Program (voluntaryprogram which works with The Department of Human Services promoting continuing education and

strives to ensure high care standards) and Child & Adult Care Food Program, CACFP, insuring healthybalanced meals each and every day.

I am state licensed with the Iowa Department of Human Services with a Child Development Home Level B.This allows me to contract Six full-time children, Two part-time children, and Four School Age children(before/after school when in session, and fulltime in summers or days off). With this license, I am also

subjected to inspections by the State insuring I follow the laws andregulations set by the state of Iowa.

Educating and raising children is not only my profession, it is my passion. I take pride in each moment Ispend with every child. It is my goal to help you raise responsible, loving, smart, social individuals.

I take a proactive approach to behavior and discipline. This fun friendly home is set up to beconducive for happy, healthy play and interaction.

I work very closely with the children to model and teach appropriate behavior through a programcalled Cooperative Discipline. This is the same philosophy used in the school during the day.

With this approach, the children are taught to accept responsibility for their own actions, develop self-discipline and expand problem solving skills. I often speak to the children aboutbehaving respectfully and making choices. The children are encouraged to be respectful and

practice behavior that is kind, fair, safe and responsible.

The Cooperative Discipline approach empowers the children by including them in the problemsolving and conflict resolution process. The idea is to teach appropriate behaviors, not punish, and is based on the understanding that children choose their behavior and make choices that

make sense to them (though not always to us). I recognize the source of the child’s problem andwork with the child to develop alternative and more positive choices and behaviors.

Choice is critical. The children learn to understand that every choice has a consequence, positiveor negative. The child’s input in the process results in a feeling of empowerment and more

positive choices with the recognition of his investment in, and responsibility for, his actions.Discipline will be:Respectful - with no exceptions.Appropriate – problem relevant.Consistent – with all children.Constructive – future minded. Cooperative – with child and family.

Discipline may include: Time-out: 1min/year Loss of privilegesLetter homeParent discussion Termination of enrollment

Clothing/Personal ItemsIt is important for your child to be dressed appropriately for the currentweather. It is also suggested that you leave a complete change of clothingat my home (in case of spill or accident). If your child has an accident andI do not have a clean spare set to change them into, you will be contactedto pickup your child. Please label all clothing along with any additional

items brought from home. If appropriate clothing/shoes/outerwear are not available for your child,

they will not take part in outside activities.

Items from homeAny items brought from home must be labeled with child's name.

These items will be stored in each child's personal space. All items are brought to daycare at your own risk. Neverland is not to be

responsible for anything that is lost/broken.Please refrain from bringing personal toys. This only causes sharing, andcooperation issues. Items brought inside, despite this prompting will be

left in your child's personal bin until you pick them up.

Rest/ Nap TimeIt is required for all children to nap or have rest time. Please bring a

labeled blanket and pillow for rest time. I personally wash all rest itemsweekly. The older children rest on rest mats. Infants and toddlers rest in a

pack n' play/porta-crib.

Arrival and DepartureIt is important that you drop off and pick up your child at the pre-arranged times. The pre-arranged time may be altered, with prior

approval. In the event you are running late, its expected that you let meknow. A $5/half hour time block late pickup fee will be applied to your

weekly invoice.

It is also important you keep your children under control during thisperiod. Children will test boundaries during this time, as there is two

authority figures. Once you arrive, your children are under yoursupervision. This is my home, they need to follow the rules and treat itwith the same respect they would treat their own home. During arrival

and departure please make sure they are respectful of that.

Please refrain from littering in the driveway and street. Trashreceptacles are set out in the driveway for your use. All wrappers, wipes,

garbage, cigarette butts, etc need to find there way to this area. NOTthrown into the yard, street, or parkway. We play outdoors and children

do not need to be putting this garbage in their hands or mouths.

Back-up/ Substitute CareIt is your responsibility to have alternate care in the event of an

illness, emergency, or scheduled closing. Please havea relative, loved one, back-up provider for this rare occurrence.
