Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the cost is $17. This luncheon is open to the media and general public. The luncheons begin Monday, Sept. 9 and run through Nov. 18.

2014 NEVADA WOLF PACK FOOTBALL — GAME NOTES

RENO, Nev. - As part of the Ne-vada Athletics Department’s “Born to be ONE” motto, sec-ond-year head coach Brian Po-lian announced the creation of the Alpha Wolf, a weekly honor bestowed upon a walk-on in the program.

Uniform jersey No. 1 will be as-signed to a different walk-on player each week who excels on special teams. This weekly recognition will come with the name Alpha Wolf.

“The football program is in lock-step with the `Born to Be One’ marketing campaign set forth by the athletic depart-ment and we are true believers in the `One Community, One Pack’ mantra,” Polian said. “Be-cause of that, we are excited to announce the Alpha Wolf pro-

gram this year. Jersey No. 1 will be worn each week by a walk-on player who makes a signifi-cant contribution to our team on special teams. This player will wear No. 1 because he rep-resents not only the student-body, but also because he truly is member of the `Community.’

“I am excited about the incen-tive that this creates within our team and about the group that it represents. Traditions like this are what make college football fun and I look forward to growing the Alpha Wolf.”

The Alpha Wolf honor could be earned by the same player multiple times during a season or even for an entire season. Or it could be earned by a differ-ent player each week during the season.

HEAD COACH BRIAN POLIAN (@Brian Polian)A new era of Nevada

football was ushered in on Jan. 11, 2013 with the hir-ing of Brian Polian to serve as the 25th head coach in the history of the Wolf Pack program.

At 39 years old, Polian is one of the youngest head coaches at the FBS level. He

brought to Nevada an impressive football pedi-gree that includes coaching stops at Notre Dame, StanfordandTexasA&Maspartofa17-yearcoach-ing career.

Now in year two of his tenure with the Wolf Pack, the future is bright with 16 starters returning on offense and defensive and a pair of Polian-led recruiting classes that have expanded the Wolf Pack’s turf to Texas and the South and elsewhere.

A treacherous schedule in 2013 led to a 4-8 re-cord in Polian’s first year but the offseason brought with it a full implementation of his program as an energized community eagerly awaits the 2014 sea-son with Polian and the Pack.

In year one, five Wolf Pack players earned All-Mountain West honors with Joel Bitonio and Brock Hekking named to the first team and Brandon Wimberly, Charles Garrett and Chase Tenpenny earning second-team recognition.

Eight members of Polian’s program earned dis-tinction for the their work in the classroom with Academic All-MW accolades. And four players earned the Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award for earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the 2013-14 academic year.

Polian came to Nevada after a year as the special

teams coordinator and tight ends coach for Kevin SumlinatTexasA&M,whichcappedan11-2sea-son in 2012 with a win over Oklahoma in the Cot-ton Bowl and an historic Heisman Trophy for then-freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Polian has coached on both sides of the ball and earned a reputation as one of the top recruiters in the nation in previous coaching roles at Stanford (2010-11), Notre Dame (2005-09), UCF (2004) and Buffalo (2001-03).

Hired by Jim Harbaugh at Stanford, Polian’s two-year run with the Cardinal was marked by a pair of BCS bowl appearances and two of the top recruit-ing classes in school history. He served as the spe-cial teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator while also coaching the safeties at Stanford. Prior to that, Polian spent five seasons with Charlie Weis at Notre Dame, earning a number of honors as one of the top recruiters in the country and was a nomi-nee for the AFCA (American Football Coaches As-sociation) Assistant Coach of the Year in 2008.

During that time, Polian’s special teams units set a number of school records and the Fighting Irish went to a pair of BCS bowl games – the Fiesta Bowl following the 2005 season and 2006 Sugar Bowl.

Polian spent one season at Central Florida as the recruiting coordinator and running backs coach and spearheaded recruiting classes that led to the Knights’ bowl appearance in 2005. Prior that, he coordinated special teams and coached running backs at the University of Buffalo for three seasons after a previous tenure (1998) with the Bulls. While at Buffalo, Polian work under Jim Hofher, who is now the assistant head coach for the Wolf Pack.

Polian also worked as a graduate assistant for

Nick Saban at Michigan State (1997) and then spent two seasons at as a GA at Baylor (1999-2000).

Senior Trevor Taft (above) has embodied Nevada’s Alpha Wolf Award this season, winning the honor and wearing the No. 1 jersey in eight of nine games this season. Taft has made 12 tackles this season, all of which came on special teams.

LAST TIME THEY METRENO, Nev. (AP) - Cody Fajardo threw for 389 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 81 yards and two more scores - the last one with 1:45 left in the game - to help Nevada come from behind Saturday to beat Air Force 45-42.

Aaron Bradley caught 15 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown, and Brandon Wim-berly had a career-high 15 receptions for 134 yards and a score for the Wolf Pack (3-2, 2-0 Mountain West), who trailed 42-30 with less than 6 minutes. Nevada cor-nerback Charles Garrett’s interception at the Wolf Pack 25 sealed the victory with 30 seconds left in the game.

Air Force took an early 21-10 lead in the second quarter before Nevada scored 21 points in the fourth quarter win win. The Wolf Pack finished with 599 yards of total offense with 389 through the air and 210 on the ground.

SERIES HISTORYThe series between Nevada and Air Force is tied at one win a piece as both meetings taking place in the past two years. Nevada won last year’s battle at Mackay Stadium, 45-42, while Air Force won the lone meeting at Falcon Stadium with a 48-31 win in 2012.

LAST TIME OUTRENO, Nev. (AP) - Don Jackson ran for a career-high 124 yards and a score, James But-ler added 103 yards rushing and a touchdown and Nevada forced three turnovers to help the Wolf Pack beat San Diego State 30-14 on Saturday night.

Nevada (6-3, 3-2 Mountain West) moved into a tie with San Diego State (4-4, 3-2) atop the conference’s West Division. Trailing 14-10 at halftime, Nevada outscored San Diego State 20-0 after the break to complete its third consecutive comeback win. The Wolf Pack scored 29 straight to beat BYU 43-35 on Oct. 18 and rattled off 26 unan-swered in a 26-18 win over Hawaii on Oct. 25. Brent Zuzo made field goals from 37, 25 and 24 yards. Jonathan McNeal led the Nevada defense - which limited San Diego State to just 24 fourth-quarter yards - with 12 tackles, including 1 1/2 tackles for loss, an interception and a forced fumble.

FAJARDO MAKES NCAA HISTORY IN COMEBACK WINWith a 14-yard completion in the first quarter on Saturday night, Nevada senior quar-terback Cody Fajardo accomplished a statistical feat that only other player in the his-tory of college football has ever done.

With the pass, Fajardo moved over the 9,000-yard mark in career passing and is just the second player ever to pass for 9,000 yards and rush for 3,000 yards in a career. The only other player to ever hit those milestones in the history of the game happens to be another Nevada star, current 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

PROGRAM HISTORYNevada is in its 108th season, seeking win No. 534 in the program’s strong history. The Wolf Pack sports an all-time record of 533-457-33 with 13 bowl appearances.

McNEAL EARNS CONFERENCE HONORSenior linebacker Jonathan McNeal has been named Mountain West Defensive Play-er of the Week, the conference office announced last Monday. McNeal led Nevada (6-3, 3-2) past San Diego State prior to the Pack’s bye week with a season-high 12 tackles and one of the best performances of his career.

McNeal finished with 12 stops, including eight solo tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, an in-terception, forced fumble and a pass break-up. In the second quarter, McNeal picked off a Quinn Kaehler pass for his first career pick and returned it 20 yards to the SDSU 20-yard line, allowing Nevada to score on the very next play.

The Los Angeles native anchored a defense that shutout the Aztecs in the second half after limiting them to 91 yards on offense. McNeal, a team captain, leads Nevada with 70 tackles to go along with 3.5 tackles for loss, four turnovers forced and five passes defended on the season.

NEVADA PRODUCES TWO 100-YARD RUSHERS AGAINST SDSUFor the first time since Dec. 15, 2012, Nevada had two players eclipse the 100-yard rushing mark. The Wolf Pack rushed for 229 yards on 47 carries against San Diego State, led by 100-yard efforts from junior Don Jackson and freshman James Butler. Jackson rushed for a career-high 124 yards on 20 carries with one touchdown. Butler, a rookie from Bloomingdale, Ill., broke the 100-yard mark for the first time in his ca-reer, rushing for 103 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown.

Nevada has rushed for 200 yards in consecutive games this season with 299 against Hawai’i and 229 against SDSU. The Pack has four 200-yard rushing games this season after opening the season with consecutive 200-yard rushing efforts. Nevada aver-ages 191.6 yards on the ground per game, ranking fifth in the Mountain West.

FAJARDO IN ELITE RANKSAfter tallying his 41st career rushing TD against Hawai’i, Fajardo joined Kaepernick as one of 10 players in FBS history to pass for 40 TDs and rush for 40 TDs in a career. Fa-jardo has passed for 54 scores while rushing for 41 at Nevada. The only other players to do that in FBS history are Kaepernick, Dan LeFevour (CMU), Tim Tebow (Fla.), Pat White (WVU), Brad Smith (Missouri.), Josh Harris (Bowling Green), Jordan Lynch (NIU), Denard Robinson (Mich.) and Antwaan Randle El (Ind.).

FAJARDO RANKS FOURTH IN TOTAL OFFENSE AMONGST ACTIVE PLAYERSSenior QB Cody Fajardo accounted for 113 yards of total offense against San Diego State, but fell one spot to fourth in total offense amongst active FBS players following a bye week. Fajardo is second in program history in total offense with 12,113 yards, including 9,088 passing and 3,025 rushing. The Brea, Calif., native trails Colin Kaeper-nick (2007-10) by 2,101 yards. Fajardo is one of two FBS quarterbacks all-time with at least 9,000 yards passing and 3,000 yards rushing.

DOBRICH EARNS COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORFor the second consecutive season, junior linebacker Jordan Dobrich has been named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District team for District VII. Dobrich is a two-time team captain who carries a 3.9 GPA in Nevada’s engineering program.

The Magalia, Calif. native ranks fifth on the team in tackles with 41, which includes a sack for a loss of 15 yards in the Wolf Pack’s week two victory over Washington State. In week nine against Hawai’i, Dobrich blocked the Nevada’s first field goal in six years, a 32-yard attempt in the first quarter. On top of last year’s CoSIDA Academic All-District honor, Dobrich is also a two-time Academic All-Mountain West selection.

HEKKING NAMED TO HENDRICKS AWARD MID-SEASON WATCH LISTSenior defensive end Brock Hekking has been named to the mid-season watch list for the 2014 Ted Hendricks Award, given annually to the nation’s best defensive end. Hekking is one of 32 players overall, including three from the Mountain West, named on the list.

The Vacaville, Calif., native has posted 33 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks and a fumble recovery for the Wolf Pack (6-3, 3-2) in 2014. Hekking ranks fourth in total sacks (21.0) and tied for ninth in tackles for loss (30.5) in program history. Amongst active FBS players, Hekking ranks third in career solo sacks (20). This season, Hek-king has posted sacks against Southern Utah, Boise State and BYU while tallying a season-high eight tackles against Washington State. Hekking is one of 11 players on the team to have started in all nine games this season.

NEVADA’S LOSSES COME TO OPPONENTS WITH 23-4 COMBINED RECORDAll three of Nevada’s losses came to opponents that are currently ranked or receiving votes in the most recent USA Today Coaches’ Poll. WOLF PACK LEADS THE NATION IN KICKOFF RETURN AVERAGEThe Wolf Pack leads the nation in average kickoff return yards, with a 28.0 average on nine returns. Sophomore DB Elijah Mitchell has returned all nine of Nevada’s kickoffs.

OH BOY!After making his collegiate debut this season, sophomore punter Alex Boy has got-ten better and better as the season progresses. The Long Beach, Calif., native ranks second in the Mountain West and 19th in the nation, averaging 44.4 yards per punt. Boy has punted 42 times on the season with a career-long of 61.

FAJARDO, OFFENSE GAINING YARDS IN BIG CHUNKSThe Wolf Pack offense has recorded 32 plays of 20 yards or longer on the season. Nevada’s ‘explosive plays’ consist of 24 passes and eight rushes. Cody Fajardo has ac-counted for 27-of-32 of Nevada’s explosive plays.

TURNER STEPS UP IN PUNT RETURN GAMEAfter graduating Joseph Huber and his 16 punt returns in 2013, Nevada entered the ‘14 season without a single player with a punt return. Senior WR Richy Turner has filled that hole admirably, ranking third in the Mountain West with a 9.7 yards per return average.

FAJARDO RUSHING SUPERLATIVESSenior QB Cody Fajardo ranks fourth in the nation amongst active FBS players with 41 career rushing touchdowns. Fajardo has 10 rushing scores on the season, which ranks tied for fifth in the nation by quarterbacks. Fajardo’s 133 rushing yards against Hawai’i secured his second 100-yard effort of the season and the 10th of his career. Amongst active FBS quarterbacks, Fajardo ranks third in 100-yard rushing games (list below). Fajardo has eight 100-yard rushing games in Mountain West competition, which ranks fourth amongst MW quarterbacks all-time.

“THE UNION”, A LOCAL PRODUCTNevada’s offensive line, nicknamed the Union by Hall of Fame head coach Chris Ault to describe its traditional blue collar work ethic, carries a local flavor this season. In week one, the Union consisted of four Nevada natives, including three that attended the same high school; Reed High School in nearby Sparks. The Wolf Pack’s Nevada-born starting linemen are redshirt freshman LT Austin Corbett (Sparks, Nev., Reed HS), sophomore LG Jeremy Macauley (Sparks, Nev., Reed HS0, junior RG Connor Tal-bott (Reno, Nev., Bishop Manogue HS) and senior RT Kyle Roberts (Sparks, Nev., Reed HS). Macauley started in two games before suffering a season-ending injury and be-ing replaced by Joey Anglemire, a native of Hawai’i.

CHRIS AULT FIELDPrior to the UC Davis game on Sept. 7, 2013, Nevada’s field was named in honor of longtime coach and former quarterback and administrator Chris Ault. The playing surface is now known as Chris Ault Field at Mackay Stadium. The winningest coach in school history with a career record of 233-109-1 in 28 seasons, Ault won 10 confer-ence championships and took the Wolf Pack to postseason play 16 times.

WOLF PACK RADIO COVERS THE SILVER STATEThe Wolf Pack Radio Network has added additional affiliates throughout the state and expanded its football pre-game show to 90 minutes this season. RENO, Nev. (AP) - Cody Fajardo threw for 303 yards and a touch-down and ran for 68 yards and another score to lead Nevada to a 28-19 win over Southern Utah in the season opener Saturday.

The only FBS player with over 7,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards, Fajardo finished with 371 yards, giving him 9,968 total career yards. He completed 30 of 41 passes. Fajardo is 32 yards awar from becoming the third player in program history to reach 10,000 career yards; Colin Kaepernick (14,210) and Da-vid Neill (11,145).

Jerico Richardson caught 13 passes for 177 yards for Nevada. Don Jackson rushed for 110 yards and one score.

The Wolf Pack led 7-0 at the half. James Butler scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and Jackson scored from the 2 to open the third for a 14-0 lead.

Southern Utah answered when Raysean Pringle broke for a 71-yard TD run to make it 14-6. Fajardo accounted for two scores to give the Wolf Pack a 28-6 lead with 11:47 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Nevada finished with a 300-yard passer (Fajardo, 303), 100-yard receiver (Richardson, 177) and 100-yard rusher (Jackson, 110) for the first time since the San Diego State game in 2013.

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada’s defense held Washington State scoreless three times in the red zone, limiting the nation’s sec-ond-ranked passing offense in a key victory at a whiteout Mack-ay Stadium. The Wolf Pack won, 24-13, on ESPN to improve to 2-0 for the first time in three years.

Freshman Kendall Johnson intercepted a pass in the first quar-ter, returning it 45 yards to set up Nevada’s first score of the game. Nevada scored in the first half on short runs by Don Jack-son and James Butler before Mike Leach’s Cougars scored 10 unanswered points to make it 14-10 at halftime.

The Wolf Pack defense turned in one of its best performances

in recent memory, holding the air-raid Cougar offense to just three points in the second half. Meanwhile, Nevada added in-surance with another Jackson TD run and a 40-yard field goal by Brent Zuzo to cap a late, clock-killing drive.

Senior QB Cody Fajardo tallied 110 passing yards and 100 rush-ing yards to lead the way, becoming the third player in program history to reach 10,000 yards of total offense. Jackson added 69 yards and two scores on the ground, while Hasaan Henderson casught six passes for 77 yards.

The Pack defense held WSU to 5-of-15 on third-down, 0-of-2 on fourth-down and 3-of-6 in the red zone.

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Despite a masterful performance from senior Cody Fajardo and the Nevada offense, Arizona held on for a 35-28 victory on Sept. 13 in Arizona Stadium.

Fajardo completed 29-of-39 passes for 321 yards and three scores, leading Nevada on five drives that went 70 yards or longer. Nevada’s opening drive went 19 plays and lasted over nine minutes - the longest Pack drive since 2010 - as the visitors jumped out to a 3-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Anu Solomon and the Rich Rodriguez’s offense were equally impressive, scoring in quick drives to take a pair of two-touchdown leads.

First, tight end Jarred Gipson caught his first career touchdown pass with eight seconds left in the second quarter to pull within one. Hasaan Henderson tied the game at 21-21 with a brilliant catch in the corner of the end zone, capping a 16-play drive.

Arizona responded with consecutive, quick-stike scores from Cayleb Jones touchdown receptions. With the pressure on, Fa-jardo found Gipson again at the 6:01 mark in the fourth quarter to pull within one. A late Wolf Pack drive stalled on fourth down, and the Wildcats survived to improve to 3-0.

For his efforts, Fajardo was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Cody Fajardo’s second rushing touch-down, a 2-yard run to start the fourth quarter, lifted Nevada to a 21-10 over San Jose State in the Mountain West opener for both schools Saturday night.

Fajardo scored on a 14-yard run in the third minute of the sec-ond quarter to give the Wolfpack (3-1, 1-0) a 7-0 lead, but San Jose State (1-3, 0-1) came back with a 32-yard field goal by Aus-tin Lopez with no time left in the first half and Tim Crawley add-ed a 24-yard run for a touchdown to start the second half as the Spartans built a 10-7 lead to start the final period.

Nevada erased the deficit 2:13 into the fourth quarter as Fajar-

do scored from the 2 for a 14-10 lead. Three minutes later Nigel Haikins picked off a Joe Gray pass and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown. The Wolf Pack defense forced three takeaways to-night, improving its turnover margin to +6 on the season. Mat-thew Lyons led the Pack defense with a season-high 11 tackles.

Junior running back Don Jackson rushed for 106 yards on 12 carries. Jackson broke free for runs of 16, 17, 18 and 22 yards, av-eraging 8.8 per carry. Nevada rushed for 196 yards on the game behind Jackson, Fajardo (64) and James Butler (24).

Nevada has won six straight against the Spartans, including 11 of the past 12.

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Jay Ajayi had 116 of his 152 rushing yards in the second half and Boise State withstood a Nevada comeback for a 51-46 victory on Saturday night. Ajayi added touchdown runs of 1, 26 and 2 yards in the second half for the Broncos, (4-2, 2-1 Mountain West).

Boise State intercepted Cody Fajardo four times, each leading to touch-downs, but turned the ball over three times itself.

Fajardo passed for 306 yards and three touchdowns, but was intercept-ed three times in the firsts half, including a pick six by Tyler Gray, which gave the Broncos the lead 23-21.

On the ensuing drive, Donte Deayon intercepted a Fajardo pass and the Broncos expanded their lead to 30-21 three plays later with Grant

Hedrick taking it in from 2 yards out. Hedrick finished with 26 of 31 for 346 yards and two touchdowns.

Fajardo finished 23 of 43 for 306 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for two touchdowns, and rallied the Wolf Pack (3-2, 1-1 Moun-tain West) from 18 points down in the second half.

Nevada again pulled to within a touchdown when Ian Seay batted a Hedrick pass into the air, caught it and returned it 32 yards for a score to make it 44-36 with 14:18 left in the game.

Nevada cut it to 51-43 on a 12-yard strike from Fajardo to Jarred Gipson and made it 51-46 on a 45-yard field goal by Brett Zuzo.

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada scored 21-unanswered points in the sec-ond half behind Cody Fajardo’s three touchdowns, but the Wolf Pack’s rally fell short 31-24 to Colorado State on Saturday night at Mackay Stadium.

The Rams (5-1, 1-1) built a 31-3 lead with 4:48 remaining in the third quarter before the Wolf Pack (3-3, 1-2) awakened with a massive rally. Fajardo tallied Nevada’s first touchdown with a 13-yard rush in the third quarter, before tossing touchdown passes to Hasaan Henderson and Richy Turner in the fourth quarter.

After forcing a Colorado State punt with 4:56 remaining, Nevada took over at its 26-yard line needing one score to tie the game. It appeared Nevada did just that as Fajardo found Richardson for a 63-yard touch-

down reception, but the play was called back on offensive pass inter-ference. Nevada still managed to drive 64 yards and reach the Ram’s 10-yard line before Fajardo was picked off in the end zone, sealing a dramatic Colorado State win.

Garret Grayson completed 26-of-36 passes for 326 yards to lead the Rams, while Rashar Higgins caught 10 passes for 194 yards.

Fajardo accounted for 385 yards of total offense - overtaking David Neill for second in Wolf Pack history - with 297 yards through the air and 88 on the ground. Jerico Richardson tallied his second 100-yard receiving game of the season, catching 10 passes for 122 yards.

Nigel Haikins led the Pack defense with 10 stops and a forced fumble.

PROVO, Utah (AP) - Cody Fajardo threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more in the second half as Nevada earned a come-from-behind, non-conference win at Brigham Young, 42-35, Saturday night.

Cody Stewart threw for three touchdowns, two of them to Mitch Matthews, as BYU built a 28-13 halftime lead.

Fajardo squeezed in from the 1 to cap a 13-play, 74-yard drive in the third quarter to cut the BYU lead to 28-20, then fired 18 yards to Richy Turner in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 28-28. Fajardo ran 25 yards for a score four minutes later to give the Wolf Pack (4-3) a 35-28 lead.

James Butler added a 6-yard run for a touchdown to make it 42-

28, but BYU answered with an 8-yard, Stewart-to-Keanu Nelson touchdown pass. The Cougars fumbled in the final minute.

The Wolf Pack defense recovered three BYU fumbles in the sec-ond half. Nevada’s defense has forced a turnover in 20 straight games, including every game in the Brian Polian era.

BYU (4-3) now has lost back-to-back home games for the first time since 2004.

The game marked the first time this season Nevada has won af-ter trailing, and the third straight game the Wolf Pack has scored 14 unanswered points after trailing in the fourth quarter. Ne-vada has outscored its opponents 91-37 in the fourth quarter this season.

HONOLULU (AP) - Cody Fajardo accumulated 261 yards of total offense and factored into three touchdowns as Nevada rallied past Hawaii Saturday, 26-18.

The Wolf Pack (5-3, 2-2 Mountain West) scored 26 consecutive points after trailing 10-0 in the second quarter to win their sec-ond straight game and fourth consecutive meeting against the Rainbow Warriors (2-6, 1-2).

Fajardo rushed for 133 yards on 23 carries and found the end zone on runs of 6 and 8 yards. He also passed for 128 yards (17-of-26) and threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Hasaan Hender-son.

Nevada ground out 190 of its 299 rushing yards after halftime. Running backs James Butler and Don Jackson combined for 163 rushing yards on 36 carries. Nevada’s 299 yards on the groun were the most of the Brian Polian era and the most since Dec. 15, 2012, against Arizona.

The Wolf Pack averaged 4.9 yards per rush and amassed 427 yards of total offense.

Hawaii held a 10-6 lead at halftime, but Nevada simply imposed its will in the third and fourth quarters. The Wolf Pack scored on their first four possessions of the second half, putting together several long drives and held the ball for all but 5:23 of the sec-ond half.

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Don Jackson ran for a career-high 124 yards and a score, James Butler added 103 yards rushing and a touch-down and Nevada forced three turnovers to help the Wolf Pack beat San Diego State 30-14 on Saturday night.

Nevada (6-3, 3-2 Mountain West) moved into a tie with San Di-ego State (4-4, 3-2) atop the conference’s West Division.

Trailing 14-10 at halftime, Nevada outscored San Diego State 20-0 after the break to complete its third consecutive comeback win. The Wolf Pack scored 29 straight to beat BYU 43-35 on Oct. 18 and rattled off 26 unanswered in a 26-18 win over Hawaii on Oct. 25.

Brent Zuzo made field goals from 37, 25 and 24 yards.

Senior Cody Fajardo became the second player in NCAA FBS his-tory to reach 9,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in a career. The only other player to do so is Wolf Pack alum Colin Kaepernick, who holds the program record in total offense. Fa-jardo completed 10 passes for 109 yards with a 20-yard touch-down pass to senior Richy Turner.

Jonathan McNeal led the Nevada defense - which limited San Diego State to just 24 fourth-quarter yards - with 12 tackles, including 1 1/2 tackles for loss, an interception and a forced fumble.

The Wolf Pack entered the week ranked third nationally in fourth quarter scoring margin before outscoring the Aztecs 17-0 in the final quarter, improving its fourth quarter margin to +73.
