Online vs Offline ndash
Networking is one of the most crucial elements of starting or expanding your business Thanks to the manyinstant communication methods available online today it is no longer necessary to rely solely on seminars orother live events to meet fellow marketers It is now possible to make your contacts from home via your PC
Of course live events are a great resource but they do have their disadvantages Here are 5 of the biggestreasons I feel that networking online is a better choice
bull Cost ndash A live seminar can cost anywhere from $20 to $2995 (not including food lodging andtransportation costs) whereas all of the online methods listed in this report range from free to $1997(with no additional expenses)
bull Travel ndash While live events are hosted all over the world there is sure to be at least some travel involvedto attend even the closest one Networking online can of course be done anywhere your laptop takesyou
bull Time ndash When attending a live event it is expected that a minimum of one entire day be devoted to itHowever networking online can be accomplished as quickly as replying to a message in a forum
bull Convenience ndash While at a live event all of the materials needed may not be easily accessible at thetime but online all of the needed materials will likely be located on the computer from which yoursquorenetworking
bull Comfort ndash When I attended the Focus Marketing seminar in Washington DC in 2007 the attire rangedfrom business-casual to suit-and-tie Networking online can be done in any attire even in the nude ndashjust make sure that your webcam isnrsquot turned on

Conclusion Use them Both ndash
While networking online has many advantages it should not take the place of attending live events andmeeting fellow marketers face-to-face It should instead be used in addition to live networking Both methodsare beneficial individually but theyrsquore even more valuable when used together
As I mentioned I attended the Focus Marketing Internet Marketing Main Event in Washington DC this yearand it was incredible I met so many people that I am either currently doing business with or hope to dobusiness with in the future I learned many new things got some new ideas and made a few new contacts

Where to Network
Now that I have discussed the advantages of networking online Irsquod like to explain some of the differentmethods available to help you connect with other marketers There are eight specific programs that I want totell you about Chances are that you wont use all of them and thats fine Just choose the programs thatsuit you best Its important to note that this list isnt all inclusive There are many more programs availablefor networking but I have chosen to discuss these eight for now If there is a program that you feel reallyneeds to be on this list contact me from the NTE members area I will review all suggestions and possiblyinclude them in future versions
Its important to understand that most of these programs are continually evolving If you tried one of theseresources before and didnt like it consider giving it another try Maybe you attended only one AffiliateFunnel conference and they talked about Safelists which is of no interest to you Understand that is just oneof the things discussed there None of these programs are 100 committed to a single topic or themeAdditionally to really make these programs work for you you have to use them regularly Odds are you wontsee drastic changes in your business after just one session but over time I guarantee that you will pick uptons of tips and tricks that help your business evolve into what you want it to be
For each of the programs listed I will try to give you the following information Who owns it how much itcosts a brief description of it industry experts that you might meet there sample topics that are beingdiscussed there my personal comments how I use the it and a testimonial from someone who learnedsomething that changed the way they did business met a new partner or found the golden nugget thathelped their business take off

Twitter is an online service that enables you to broadcast short messages to your friends or followers Italso lets you specify which Twitter users you want to follow so you can read their messages in one place Itis designed to work on a mobile phone as well as on a computer All Twitter messages are limited to 140characters so each message can be sent as a single SMS alert
I love Twitter because it enables fellow marketers to be instantly connected to one another It helps youstay informed on new projects that others are working on as well as keeping them up-to-date on yours Youcan ask questions and receive instant answers Twitter is kind of a free-for-all The other big benefit ofTwitter is all of the free traffic you can get Now I dont mean to start posting advetisements though There isa more proper way to get traffic from Twitter and its a three pronged approach
One start following people and building your followers Find people who are friends of yours check outyour friends contacts or search for people with similar interests Then just click on the pictures check outtheir profiles and the decide if you want to follow them As you follow more people you will also gain morefollowers
Two show your personality or offer something of value If you want to pick up new followers rapidly youwill need to give them a reason to follow you Maybe youre witty maybe techy maybe a great cook etcUse these qualities to your advantage Make people want to get your updates If you dont think you haveany qualities that would transfer over easily then offer people something of value or interest You could postsports commentary your thoughts about current news you could link to humorous sites and stories etcThere is no hard and fast rule about getting people to follow you Dont be afraid to find different thingsWhen you do find the right approach you will be amazed at how fast your followers start adding up When Imade a change to the way I used my Twitter account my followers went from 102 to 149 in just 3 days
Three never blatantly advertise using Twitter This is a sure-fire way to make people stop following youThe best way to advertise is passively There are two programs I use that allow me to do this The first isAWeber AWeber is an autoreponder service with a really neat feature Any time you mail your list you canchoose to have AWeber automatically post it to your Twitter acount Your new tweet will show the subject ofyour email and include a link to a copy of your email message The second resource I use to generateTwitter traffic is Tweet My Blog This wordpress plugin will automatically ping your Twitter account everytime you post on your blog Your new tweet will automatically contain a link back to your blog postpotentially driving massive amounts of traffic to your blog

bull Ask Questions ndash There is absolutely nothing wrong with sounding like a newbie Everyone was new atone point Asking questions is how you learn faster than your competition While others are strugglingfrom trial and error you can benefit from the advice of those who have already ldquobeen there and donethatrdquo
bull Add to the Discussion ndash Donrsquot be afraid to speak up Even if you are the least experienced person inthe room you still probably have something of value to add to the conversation If you have an opiniondonrsquot be afraid to share it
bull Use the Signature ndash If you are actively posting to forums you need to be using the signature file Thisis a snippet of text that is automatically appended to each post you make You should use this space toinclude your name and the link to your primary business
bull Update Your Profile - Most forums allow you to update the profile page that people see when theyclick on your name or picture You should use your real name and picture to help build trust and brandyourself your age location and interests so others see you as a real person and can relate to youand your contact information such as email address and instant messenger so people can reach youwhen yoursquore not in the forum
bull Donrsquot Spam ndash There may be opportunities for you to post affiliate links while using these services butusually you should avoid it People do not go to forums or chat rooms to be advertised to and if you areconstantly posting advertisements you will soon become unwelcome You may even be banned forsuch activity Make sure that you familiarize yourself with the rules of each service before you startposting
bull Use your Strengths ndash If there is a subject that you are particularly knowledgeable about find peoplediscussing it and add your expertise This will help build your credibility in the community
bull Listen to the Pros - These people are already making a full-time income online so they are obviouslydoing things right If they make a suggestion you should listen to it While there is no guarantee thatwhat worked for them will work for you knowing the methods they used greatly increases your chanceof success

Joint Venture Tips
Donrsquot expect a professional marketer to want a Joint Venture partnership on the first day If you want towork with a program owner there are a few things yoursquod better do before asking them to partner with you
bull Join Their Program - This is just a simple courtesy Before you expect them to do something for youyou had better do something for them This may sound like an obvious suggestion but I haveoverlooked it myself
bull Buy Their Products - This goes along with the idea that you have to give to receive but it also goes astep further by showing the owner that you are serious about your marketing
bull Be a Good Affiliate - Same concept again This also shows them that you are business savvy Whatbetter way to prove that you would make a good business partner than demonstrating your ability tobring in new customers
bull Offer FREE Help ndash A wonderful way to build a working relationship is to show the owner how much youcan help them By helping them with their own program they will see how beneficial having you as apartner could be The best part is that if you offer to do it for free you will quickly build a relationshipand be seen as a real asset to any business
One Last Note ndash
By now you should be ready to jump into the exciting world of online networking but before you do I haveone last piece of advice You need to realize that while you are networking you can also be driving massiveamounts of traffic to your website

Online vs Offline ndash
Networking is one of the most crucial elements of starting or expanding your business Thanks to the manyinstant communication methods available online today it is no longer necessary to rely solely on seminars orother live events to meet fellow marketers It is now possible to make your contacts from home via your PC
Of course live events are a great resource but they do have their disadvantages Here are 5 of the biggestreasons I feel that networking online is a better choice
bull Cost ndash A live seminar can cost anywhere from $20 to $2995 (not including food lodging andtransportation costs) whereas all of the online methods listed in this report range from free to $1997(with no additional expenses)
bull Travel ndash While live events are hosted all over the world there is sure to be at least some travel involvedto attend even the closest one Networking online can of course be done anywhere your laptop takesyou

Twitter is an online service that enables you to broadcast short messages to your friends or followers Italso lets you specify which Twitter users you want to follow so you can read their messages in one place Itis designed to work on a mobile phone as well as on a computer All Twitter messages are limited to 140characters so each message can be sent as a single SMS alert
I love Twitter because it enables fellow marketers to be instantly connected to one another It helps youstay informed on new projects that others are working on as well as keeping them up-to-date on yours Youcan ask questions and receive instant answers Twitter is kind of a free-for-all The other big benefit ofTwitter is all of the free traffic you can get Now I dont mean to start posting advetisements though There isa more proper way to get traffic from Twitter and its a three pronged approach
One start following people and building your followers Find people who are friends of yours check outyour friends contacts or search for people with similar interests Then just click on the pictures check outtheir profiles and the decide if you want to follow them As you follow more people you will also gain morefollowers

bull Use the Signature ndash If you are actively posting to forums you need to be using the signature file Thisis a snippet of text that is automatically appended to each post you make You should use this space toinclude your name and the link to your primary business
bull Update Your Profile - Most forums allow you to update the profile page that people see when theyclick on your name or picture You should use your real name and picture to help build trust and brandyourself your age location and interests so others see you as a real person and can relate to youand your contact information such as email address and instant messenger so people can reach youwhen yoursquore not in the forum

Networking is one of the most crucial elements of starting or expanding your business Thanks to the manyinstant communication methods available online today it is no longer necessary to rely solely on seminars orother live events to meet fellow marketers It is now possible to make your contacts from home via your PC
Of course live events are a great resource but they do have their disadvantages Here are 5 of the biggestreasons I feel that networking online is a better choice

I love Twitter because it enables fellow marketers to be instantly connected to one another It helps youstay informed on new projects that others are working on as well as keeping them up-to-date on yours Youcan ask questions and receive instant answers Twitter is kind of a free-for-all The other big benefit ofTwitter is all of the free traffic you can get Now I dont mean to start posting advetisements though There isa more proper way to get traffic from Twitter and its a three pronged approach
One start following people and building your followers Find people who are friends of yours check outyour friends contacts or search for people with similar interests Then just click on the pictures check outtheir profiles and the decide if you want to follow them As you follow more people you will also gain morefollowers

bull Update Your Profile - Most forums allow you to update the profile page that people see when theyclick on your name or picture You should use your real name and picture to help build trust and brandyourself your age location and interests so others see you as a real person and can relate to youand your contact information such as email address and instant messenger so people can reach youwhen yoursquore not in the forum
bull Donrsquot Spam ndash There may be opportunities for you to post affiliate links while using these services butusually you should avoid it People do not go to forums or chat rooms to be advertised to and if you areconstantly posting advertisements you will soon become unwelcome You may even be banned forsuch activity Make sure that you familiarize yourself with the rules of each service before you startposting
