• The matter was referred to for security clearance of the proposed site.
• The security agencies requested for following details:
a) Rational for selecting Narowal as monitoring station;
b) Whether foreigner will stay /visit the monitoring station;
c) Type and lay out of monitoring station including type of construction;
d) Exact location of the site (longitude/latitude);
e) Bio-data of foreigners/ Pakistani to be employed at the project/ station

• The position was clarified. However, the security agencies asked for alternate sites.
• The options for alternate site were discussed with Pakistan Meteorological Department. Accordingly they suggested:
• Minchinabad
• Sulamanki Headwork
• Bahawalnagar

• The alternate sites have been informed to the Security Agencies with the request to give clearance.
• The decision in this regard is still awaited.
• Meantime Pak-EPA being NIA making necessary arrangements for transfer of funds and equipment through UNDP.
