Where does Network ID come from?
RFID
In 2005, ITU-TTelecommunication Standardization Advisory Group(TSAG)started Technology Watch Correspondence Group (CG) on RFID.
In 2006, the scope ofthe CG expandedto cover the broader viewof networked identification system (Network ID).Joint Coordination Activityon NID was established.

What is Network ID?
N-ID is used as the identification code (ID) for physical and virtual objects and locations. Although other IDs (content ID, IP address, telephone number, Social Security Number in the United States, et al.) have technical compatibilities with the IDs for objects and locations, they are not covered expressly in this contribution. In addition, technical aspects of ID carriers (RFID, bar code, 2D code, et al.) are not mentioned in this contribution, in order to focus on the network aspects of the ID.
Networked ID (N-ID) can be defined as an ID, which is stored in a system that is accessible via network by users who have the access permissionin advance, and by accessing the networked ID, users become aware of its associated data/information within the limits of their permissions.
This is not intended to indicate positive validation of a person.

Asset Management (Problems)
Management Server ・Regular Inventory Check Require time and human
resources.・Inventory DB
Require printing a list and manual processes.
・Asset manager is relocated.・Assets are moved, and no one can find their locations.

Asset Management with RFID (Solutions)
・Use of RFID (Active Tag)・Record relocations of managers and assets
⁃ Find current manager who is responsible for assets.⁃ Reduce the inventory cost
・Manufactures tagged their products so that inventory and asset management could be easily done.

Public N-ID System
Public N-ID system is • to initiate policy based inter-work operations among existing, new and closed ID systems,• to uniquely identify an object by inter-working with existing, new and closed ID systems,• to safely utilize its past record, compatibility, and attribute such as location, age, and
other characteristics only for the purpose specified by users, i.e. restricted usage, and• to promote effective and new business and governmental activities.
