NETFLIX NEWS■ Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos told attendees at an industry conference that House of Cards Season 6 would resume production in early 2018 — without Kevin Spacey. Robin Wright will reportedly now lead the show, which went on production hiatus in the wake of multiple sexual assault allegations against Spacey.
■ Netflix has renewed Stranger Things for a third season. Season 2 of the nostalgic and creepy ’80s-set hit was just as popular as the show’s first Emmy-nominated go-round.
■ David Fincher’s hit new crime drama Mindhunter will return for a second season. The series was lauded by critics for its reinvention of the crime
procedural when it debuted last October. Newcomer Cameron Britton drew raves for his performance as serial killer Ed Kemper.
■ Jenji Kohan, the creative force behind Netflix’s hit Orange Is the New Black and an executive producer on its recent series GLOW (pictured), has signed a multi-year deal making Netflix her exclusive creative home to produce new original series and other projects. “Bold, outspoken and totally fearless, Jenji has constantly raised the bar for storytelling at Netflix,” said Cindy Holland, VP of original content at Netflix. “She has been with us from the beginning, and we could not be more thrilled to continue working together over the coming years.”
