netballSurrey Storm are the Netball Superleague franchise for the London and South East region, playing and training at the world-class Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.

Founded in 2009, Storm have reached 3 grand finals, 3 league semi-finals and won the 2012 regional Fast Net Grand Prix in their short history, never finishing outside of the top 4 in the Superleague.

Storm play in front of sell-out 1000 strong crowds at Surrey Sports Park, taking one showpiece game to the Copper Box Arena each season for Netball London Live.

Storm have a number of international standard players in their squad, including England stars Rachel Dunn & Hannah Reid, ex-international Tamsin Greenway and a crop of young players who have played for their country at various youth levels.

Storm are the ‘heartbeat for netball’ in their region, running a number of successful junior camps, roadshows, tournaments and school visits across London and the South East throughout the year, bringing netball for all ages into the wider community.

Launched for the 2014 season, Netball London Live is a showpiece match in the Superleague calendar between Surrey Storm and Hertfordshire Mavericks, bringing professional domestic netball to the capital for an exciting day of sport.

Netball London Live takes place at the Copper Box Arena at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, allowing netball to play its part in the Olympic legacy following London 2012.

Hertfordshire also bring their own selection of international netball talent to the fixture, with Lindsay Keable, Layla Guscoth and sisters Sasha and Kadeen Corbin regularly stepping out for England as well as Mavericks.

Broadcast live on Sky Sports, Netball London Live also partners with the brand new Sky Tickets platform for joint marketing and ticket sales, allowing the event reach to stretch across Sky’s impressive UK-wide database.

netball in the UKNetball participation has increased in the UK by over 34% in the last 5 years and is now the most played female team sport in the UK.

Over 160,000 people now take to the court every week with the average age group of 16-25 year olds taking up over a third of this engaged group. Netball remains the most participated non-Olympic sport and with the recent England international victories over world champions Australia, the sport remains primed to increase in both stature and interest over the coming years, aided by the legacy following the Glagsow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

More than 1 million people now watch netball live on Sky Sports every season, and the audience comes from the top 20% of the national population in terms of education and income.

As the London and South East franchise of the Superleague, Surrey Storm are best placed to capitalise on the sport’s interest across the south of England, with a catchment area covering Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Essex, Sussex and London.

The 2014 Superleague season saw netball broadcast live on a weekly basis for the first time on Sky Sports, with over 1.1m people tuning in across the campaign, including Netball London Live 2014 and the Superleague semi and grand finals.

This was coupled with extensive digital coverage via the Sky Sports website and mobile app, alongside regular social media updates on the brand new Sky Sports Netball Twitter account.

With a renewed focus on the sport during the last 12 months, netball now also regularly features on Sky Sports News and Sky 1’s Game Changers - aimed at inspiring young people into sport.

Superleague Netball will once again be broadcast live on Sky Sports during the 2015 season, including Netball London Live, to further increase awareness of the sport on a national level.

Surrey Storm has also renewed its partnership with Sky Tickets and will be the exclusive ticketing partners for Netball London Live once again in 2015, providing access to markets across the UK who are interested in live events and sport and advertising to segments of Sky’s 10.5m TV customers.

Sky Tickets is a brand new online ticketing platform, providing easy opportunities to purchase tickets for some of the biggest sporting events in the industry. Operated by British Sky Broadcasting Limited, the service ties in with Sky’s own broadcasting initiatives, while delivering a great customer experience from start to finish.

Netball London Live 2015 will take place on Saturday 7 March when Surrey Storm and Hertfordshire Mavericks will meet once again to do battle in the 2015 Netball Superleague.
