    Brief History

    Nestle (founded by Henri Nestle) was originally the first European condensed milk factory

    opened in Switzerland by the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company in 1866. Later in 1905,

    The Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company (founded by Americans Charles and George Page),

    combined with Nestl after a couple of decades as fierce competitors to form the Nestl and

    Anglo-Swiss Milk Company. Since then, Nestle has nourished across the globe starting from

    World War 1. It is now a multinational food and beverage company with various products

    including breakfast cereals, baby food, dairy products etc.

    Size & Profit

    As mentioned earlier, Nestle has expended its branch throughout the world. Nestle offices can be

    found from countries starting from alphabets A-Z, which is EVERYWHERE. Since the day it

    was founded up till today, Nestle now has approximately 470 factories, operating in more than

    86 countries, and around 330,000 employees. It is no doubt a for profit business. Main

    competitors of Nestle include PepsiCo, Krafts Food, Mars Incorporated and many more but this

    still cant stop Nestle from being the worlds top food and beverage company as theymade an

    astonishing total profit of $11.55 Billion last year. Nestle has around 8,000 brands with a wide

    range of product including coffee, seasonings, chocolate, pet food and many more. In the year

    end 2010, Nestle held 29.7% of the shares ofL'Oral.

    Types of Ownership & Channels of Distribution

    The Nestle Corporation is headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland. It has the largestResearch and

    Department network of any food company in the world, with 34 R&D facilities (3 Science &

    Research centres and 31 Product Technology Centres and R&D centres worldwide), and over

    5,000 people involved in Research and Development.Nestle also has corporate venture fundsand research partnerships with business partners and universities. Nestle products could be found

    almost in any shopping mall, markets and almost any place. Its all around us, making it

    extremely easy for consumers to find and buy.

    Roles in Community & Jobs

    Nestle did not only put their thoughts into making profit for the company but is also helping the

    community. Nestle launched the Good Nutrition Programs in several countries to help children

    adopt healthy nutrition habits as a component of a healthy lifestyle. Nestl also announced to

    invest more than $500 million between 2011 and 2020 to develop health and wellness products

    to help prevent and treat major diseases like diabetes and Alzheimers. Also, they need sufficient

    employees in order to keep the business going as it is a worldwide business. Jobs like mechanic

    maintenance and project engineer are included but I prefer to work in the R&D to improve food

    and beverages that could improve the lives of others. The slogan Good Food, Good Life says it

    all. Nestle wants to help. Its not about size, its about trust.
