NERVE TITLE SEQUENCE ANALYSIS

• One of the the Title Sequences that I decided to analyse was from the movie 'Nerve'. I decided to analyse this title sequence as the film very much appeals to younger audiences and I feel as though I would be able to pick out more detail. This new, exceptional and fascinating film is about an online game that challenges players to accept a series of dares. This then leads to many people trying out some life threatening dares. The plot therefore gives the audience a rough idea of what the film is going to be like; full of danger and heart in mouth moments.

• One way in which the title sequence represents the genre of the film is the format of the title sequence. The title sequence uses a variety of different software and applications from many online technology such as iPhones and Apple Mac's. This is very much similar to the whole concept of the film. We see this right at the beginning of the title sequence in which we see the names 'Henry Joost' and 'Ariel Schulman' spelt out using the Not Responding curser sign, which is a spinning colourful circle.

• We also see some sort of Apple Mac software when the name 'Jeanne Ryan' was shown to the audience, as it shows the application notes that is an application on both Mac and iPhone. The soundtrack of the title sequence I think is very effective as it is the sort of music that you would probably hear in a vintage video game. This links to the film as the whole concept of the film is based on an online game. It has a very upbeat and vibrant vibe to the song and makes the audience want to view the title opening, I feel as though it is even more effective as it goes with all the different animations and colours that are shown in the title sequence.

• I think that this little screenshot from the title sequence is a very clever addition to the sequence as it shows the colours yellow and black. When the two colours are put together they often suggest danger or warning which obviously links to the film as the rear many life threatening moments in the scene which are associated with warning and danger. There is a lot going on in the opening sequence such as movements, animations and change in colour. I feel as though this connotes the sheer amount of chaos and carnage that takes place throughout the film.
