The Beginning It all started back in 1995, at the time we were working on the lighting design for Penfold Wine’s Magill Estate restaurant in the Adelaide hills with Sydney architects Allen Jack+Cottier.

A major challenge with restaurant lighting is their need to move tables around and still illuminate them appropriately; we were tasked with designing an electric lamp with no cord to solve this problem. What surprised us at the time was that there were no off-the-shelf battery recharging systems that would suit our requirements - amazing when you consider the multitude of rechargeable devices in the world.

So, we designed our own, exactly to our requirements. This first lamp used rechargeable NiCad batteries and had very basic, hand-assembled control electronics.

The end result was the Magill cordless table lamp - the evolved version still in use today as a premier battery operated lamp at many great locations such as Rockpool Bar & Grill in Melbourne as shown here.

Why Light Quality is importantWe take the quality of light very seriously here at NEOZ. We have always believed our cordless lamps should not only look great but also produce an exceptional light output with perfect colour rendering for defining skin tones, food colours and textures.

To measure light quality, the Colour Rendering Index is used to quantify the ability of a light source to reproduce the colours of various objects faithfully in comparison with an ideal or natural light source. The highest possible CRI is 100 when all colours in their spectrum are rendered equally.

Designed to match halogen as closely as possible, NEOZ have developed an energy efficient LED array in beautiful warm white (2700k) with a CRI of 95+. On the highest brightness setting both LED & Halogen are almost identical. However when a Halogen bulb is dimmed, it’s colour temperature grows warmer, while the LED stays the same.

Manufactured from durable linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) these illuminated furniture are IP51 rated, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Cordless Flexibility When the charger is connected, the light will operate from the mains power and simultaneously charge the battery. Choose from a selection of LED light sources including remote controlled RGB LED.
