Small, Round, Black— One Material, Many Applications

Neopor®—Neoporiscomposedofsmallblackbeadsofpolystyrene(EPS)containingblowingagent,whichmakesitexpandable.BASFproducesthisuniquematerial,whichisprocessedbyfoammanufacturersintoinsulatingmaterialsforawiderangeofdifferentapplications.

These black beads arefoamedbyconvertersonconventionalEPSmachinesandprocessedtosilver-grayfoamblocksandmoldedpartswithupto�0percentbetterinsulatingperformancethanconventionalEPS.Theblocksarethencuttoboardsofdifferentthicknesses.

Slopingroofsystemsensurethatrainwaterdrainsfromflatroofs.Roofswithoutaslope,whichretainwateroveraprolongedperiodoftime,aresubjectedtoconsiderableloads.Asaresult,thelifespanoftheroofcanbesignificantlyshortened.

Thermal insulation in comparisonTheecoefficiencyanalysisconsidersproductsandprocessesfromboththeeconomicandtheecologicalpointofview.Theresultofanevaluationofthisnatureintheexampleofthethermalinsulationcompositesystem(ETICS)withaU-valueof0.�9W/(m�·K)isshowninthediagram.ThemajoradvantageofNeoporinsulatingboardsliesinthereduceduseofmaterialofupto50percent,generatingsavingsintermsofcostsandresources,whichinturnreducestheimpactontheenvironment.Comparedtoalternativeproducts,Neoporinsulatingmaterialsbeareconomicadvantageswithlowerenvironmentalimpactandthereforeofferecoefficientinsulatingsolutionsforup-to-datethermalinsulation.
