Installation of equipment that would appeal to children in the 7-12 year old range. A spiderweb, larger slide, and balancing equipment or some additional swings.

New play equipment would allow a greater number of neighbours to enjoy the park at the same time and allow for more connections to be made. This park is very busy. The equipment we have caters to younger children and there isn’t much for older children to do at the park.

Total Cost = $50,000

Renovate and beautify the common unit located within the London Middlesex Housing complex. A transformation to the small, outdated meeting and recreational space will provide for an expanded interior that includes a functional community kitchen, children’s game room, WIFI and computer access for residents, with an inspirational exterior mural..

This project will empower the community to better connect with each other and develop resident driven projects and programming that encourage broader community engagement and positive collective impact. A renovated and accessible common unit will cultivate an environment of acceptance, diversity, and inclusion and lead to a stronger, more vibrant sense of community

The accessible outdoor education space will include: natural elements inviting hands-on learning; a performance stage to elicit creativity and imaginary play; an outdoor chalkboard to encourage and promote communication and inspire creativity; fitness and balance elements; raised gardens and natural features; as well as teaching platforms and seating.

This natural play space will bring the community together and encourage children and their families to spend more time outdoors in healthy active play. Not only will this space become a valuable Play-Based learning area for students, but it will be a beautiful asset to our neighborhood. Enhancing our school yard by adding wooden planters, concrete water fun, wooden mud kitchen, elevated log climbers, funnel ball, and soccer standards. All of the proposed additions would be accessible before, during, and after school, as well as during holidays, to staff, students, and community members.

This project will provide our school staff, students, and community members a purposeful space to plan and engage in developmentally-appropriate play-based learning. The planters will provide opportunities for authentic outdoor learning opportunities by providing a dedicated and appropriate space to plant different plants, fruits, and vegetables, and encourage individuals to make predictions and observe how these plants may grow, learn and extend upon their experiences, and enjoy eating the healthy fruits and vegetables they have grown. These features will be open for the surrounding community to enjoy.

Gazebo and path in the green space behind Beacock Library.

The Northeast is a diverse community and we believe that friendship breaks barriers and makes living in our community healthy and strong. Loneliness, which can lead to mental illness, is a problem that is fixable if we make connections. Our “Friendship Terrace” would allow people to meet, talk and share ideas. Since the library is so close, it would also be a great place to simply read in the shade or have a quiet peaceful place to work. The terrace would need walkway for accessibility but this would be short since there already is a sidewalk in the area.

The Kilally Valley Community Group would like two pieces that would enhance the playground for older children. The desire would be a giant spider web or another climbing obstacle in an additional circle. Currently our park is good, but only accommodates children of a young age.

The Kilally Valley Community Group works hard to make our neighbourhood a place where everyone is welcome. Currently our playground is very geared towards young children, and we would like to see additional equipment for older children. There are many children who love to go to the park and climb trees in the woods. It would be much safer and environmentally friendly for them to have a place at the park. Our park is always busy from dawn until dusk and is a true gathering place for families. Being able to accommodate more of the neighbourhood children would be a great benefit to our community.

Placing 4 new picnic tables in Ed Blake Park. We currently only have one picnic table in the entire park that is under the shade. Having 4 new tables would be immediately used for the entire park season.

The park is so well used by many families for gatherings. Many residents in our area use the park for birthday parties, family reunions, and celebrations. Given the nature and makeup of our community many residents live in apartment buildings and don’t have access to communal space for family gatherings or larger kids parties. The park with the splash pad is a welcome escape. We just want a place to sit and eat as a group.

Total Cost = $12,000

Gazebo for sunshade protection for Northridge Community Pool.

Our Northridge Neighbourhood would become a better place by having a shaded area at the Northridge Pool because it would draw more families together to use our community pool. Northridge is a beautiful neighbourhood with lots of walking/biking trails, a little park and great people, we hope that this change will draw more people to our neighbourhood and make our little community pool a booming place to be.

Total Cost = $35,000

Extension of the pathway through Wenige Park to Stoney Creek Public School.

The current asphalt pathway stops in the middle of the green space. It does not currently have a destination. Extending the pathway to Stoney Creek Public School will permit children to walk, bike, scoot etc. to school more safely by eliminating the need to walk around the long way or attempt to go across the field in deep snow or wet muck.
