• Sanjay Gupta rewrote the rulebook for the IAS, the premier civil service of India in 2002 by doing the unthinkable. He resigned from the IAS with a good 21 years still to go.

• He could never done justice to his enormous talents as also his appetite for work, given the job profile of a bureaucrat.

• The man, who took the Rs.18 crore GSPC into becoming one of the major Exploration & Production companies in India over a three year span, life could never have been satisfactory in the slow paces lane of government run enterprises.

• But it took a man of gumption & conviction to step down from a vehicle that is even today considered as one of the most glamorous in post-independence India.
