Non-discrimination and Non-harassment Information
All students in HSE Schools deserve to come to school free of fear and to
feel safe to be their authentic selves. Discrimination of any type is
strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated at HSEHS Schools – this
includes sexual harassment (Title IX) and discrimination based on
disabilities or race (Titles II and VI).
If students ever experience any type of harassment, we ask that they
report this immediately to an administrator, school counselor or trusted
adult. Beyond reporting directly to building officials, HSE Schools has an
entire support system in place for filing concerns and complaints, which
can be located on our District
website. https://www.hseschools.org/about/legal-notes

From the Principal’s Desk….
Dear Parents:
What a great start we have had at Fall Creek Jr. High. I cannot believe it is already the
second month of school. I know it is cliché, but time moves by so quickly! I am sure you are
saying the same thing as you have a student who seems to just keep getting busier. We
believe that the middle level is the best time to explore activities and get involved. We are
providing more opportunities than ever to stay engaged in what is happening in school and the
community.
At FCJ we are creating even more ways to enrich learning. Our main goal is the development
of the entire student; this includes the academic piece as well as social and emotional growth.
As educators and parents, we know that a student who is involved is more eager to come to
school. When a student taps into a group or a cause, they want to be here, and we want them
here!
Below are just a few activities or groups things to look for:
Camp Tecumseh Mathcounts Dungeons & Dragons
Washington DC Spell Bowl Junior Black Student Union
Costa Rica Academic Club Friendship Bracelet Club
Book Clubs Yearbook Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Musical/Drama Junior Honor Soc Fine Arts/Visual Arts
Athletics Student Council
These are a few of the amazing opportunities your child can experience as a Falcon.
Encourage your student to stay connected and involved in school.
Sincerely,
Stacey Swan Principal

CHILD FIND
What to do if you suspect a disability/Child Find:
If your child is age 2 ½ through 21, attends any school within the Hamilton Southeastern
Schools’ boundaries or you live in our community, and you suspect your child may have a
disability, you should contact us for more information.
· For children at least two and a half years of age, but not yet age-eligible for kindergarten, you
should contact the Early Childhood Assessment Team at Brooks School Elementary School,
317-915-4250.
· For students who are eligible for kindergarten through age 21, you should contact your
child’s teacher, school counselor or building administrator to discuss your concerns and
explore the steps to be taken. If your child is not enrolled in public school, you should
contact the counselor or building administrator in the building your child would attend if
enrolled.
What to do if you suspect a disability/Child find
Response-to-Instruction (RtI)
RtI is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and
interventions matched to student needs and using learning rate over time and level of
performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-
tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic
and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information
regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not
demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3
level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special
education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.

FCJ GENERAL NEWS
ATTENDANCE NOTES
Parents, it is important that if you are planning on picking your student up from
school early, that you call or send a note informing attendance of the time that you
need your student dismissed. If, at all possible, this should be done before 9:00 am
but definitely before you arrive at school to pick your child up. With prior notice, we
can have a pass delivered to your student with minimal disruption to classes and your
student will be waiting for you when you come into the school to sign them out. You
may call either the attendance line at 594-4398, which is answered 24 hours a day,
and leave a message or the main line at 594-4390. Even if you notify the teacher(s) or
counselor, the main office still needs notification. When you pick your student up,
please be prepared to show us a driver’s license. We also need a phone call if your
student is going to be absent for the entire day along with the reason. Thank you.
Student Handbook Information
Our Student Handbook can be found on our website – Fcj.hseschools.org (first page, bottom right) or in the Student Life Section. Please review this handbook with your student so that everyone understands what is expected with technology, dress code, and behavior. With all of us working together we can make this a great year.
Student Pick Up/Drop Off
Parents are encouraged to be patient and use caution especially
during the afternoon pick up times, when the pickup line can be
long. Cars should remain in the “pick up” line unless they are
parking in a parking spot. Students should enter cars only from
cars located at the curbside position (cars that have come to a
complete stop along the curb). Parents are encouraged to line
their cars along the curb in large numbers rather than only lining
up 2 or 3 cars. This curb drop off and pickup area is designated
by white signs with blue lettering that read “Student Drop Off
and Pick-Up Zone”. We will have orange safety cones on the
sidewalk as well. These cones will designate the start and end
of the pick-up area. Please utilize the entire pick up zone to
increase pick up capacity. If you have high school students
dropping off or picking up, please remind them to drive slowly.
Safety is our first concern.
BUILDING ENTRY
For the safety of our students and staff, please be
prepared to show an ID to our camera in the
entryway prior to entering the building. This can
be a driver’s license or a safe visitor’s badge.
This requirement applies to all visitors; even
those employees from other schools, central
office, and those we recognize. We appreciate
your understanding and cooperation in following
these procedures to help keep our building safe.
Current Skyward Information
Parents, please make sure your
information is current and correct
in skyward, especially your email
addresses and emergency names of
people that may be picking up your
student. Our teachers and other
staff communicate by email on a
regular basis and need to have a
current email on file. Also, if you
want someone else to pick up your
student early from school, their
name needs to be listed in skyward.

They may not return to school until symptom free without the aid of medication (i.e.
Tylenol, ibuprofen, Pepto, Imodium, etc.) for 24 hours. These medications can help
symptoms, but the person can still be contagious. This policy is to protect other students
and staff that may have compromised immune systems due to chronic health problems and
to stop the spread of contagious viruses. Please keep your child home if they are sick.
Teachers will work with your student to get them caught up with missed schoolwork due to
illness.

Mudsock Pasta Bowl
Our school participated in the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation
Mudsock Pasta Bowl to benefit local food pantries. Our staff and students got
into the spirit with dress up days and classroom competition to see who could
bring in the most pasta. Mr. Gorski’s 1st period math class won the competition
with approximately 386 pasta items and earned themselves a donut party. The
school, as a whole, brought in over 2200 items of pasta.
SNACK ATTACK
Fall Creek Junior High is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program
for students in need. The program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance
Program, is designed to help students in need with some extra snacks to get them

Participating students will pick up a small snack bag on Friday to be taken home over
the weekend. The bag is filled with 5-10 individually wrapped snacks such as granola
bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of
snacks will vary each week. Please let me know if your child has a peanut allergy as
he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student
participate in FYAP's Snack Attack, please contact Amy Stuntz at

There are some super simple ways you can help earn money for the FCJH PTO!
Kroger Community Rewards:
Enroll your Kroger Plus card in the Kroger Community Rewards Program. You can earn money for FCJH
PTO every time you shop at Kroger! Please
visit https://www.kroger.com/signin?redirectUrl=/account/communityrewards/ to enroll your card.
Choose Fall Creek Junior High PTO Inc. as your organization (Organization #MK089).
Amazon Smile:
When you shop on Amazon, use the smile.amazon.com link. The first time you visit the smile.amazon.com
site, you can designate a charitable organization of your choice to earn .5% of your purchases. Choose Fall
Creek Junior High PTO as your charitable organization, then shop away! The smile.amazon.com link has
the same items and the same prices as the amazon.com link!
Box Tops for Education:
FCJH is collecting box tops again this year! Each box top is worth .10. Our goal is to earn $1,000.00 from
box tops this year!
Box tops has changed their primary redemption process this year!
Box tops are now primarily redeemed by scanning your receipt into the box top app. We will also mail in
box tops, as there are many box tops still on items on the shelves. To scan your receipt for box top
redemption, please follow these steps:
Install the box tops for education app on your mobile device
Sign up for an account or sign into an existing account
If you are new to the app, select Fall Creek Jr High as your school
Click scan button
Follow the directions to take a pic or pictures of your receipt
If your receipt requires more than one picture, after your first picture, touch the + sign at the bottom of
your screen and continue to take screen shots of your receipt
When done, click the check mark on the right side of the screen
you will automatically see the credit to the FCJH account!
**You must scan your receipt within 14 days of purchase for the money to be credited to FCJH**
Since this is a new redemption process, there are still lots of box tops on products that we all purchase.
Please continue to clip those box tops and send them to school for your child to turn into the main office.
We will continue to mail in box tops until all items have been converted to the virtual box tops.
For box tops we are mailing, October 1 and March 1 are our submission deadlines.
These 3 simple things don't cost you any additional money, but earn LOTS of money for the FCJH PTO!!
Thank you for helping us earn extra money to put toward the needs and wants of our students and staff.

volunteers that mentor once a week, for one hour, during the school day. Mentors meet one-on-one with students to
provide them with a caring and consistent presence in their lives; become a reliable friend; a role model; and simply
someone they can count on. Founded on the knowledge that kids need 4-6 non-parental adults supporting them
through their developmental years, mentoring can have a profound impact on a child’s life!
YMI mentors are a vital resource not only to HSE Schools initiatives to further the social and emotional well-being of
their students but also to parents looking for additional support. Every week, approximately 300 mentors visit students
in Fishers schools, offering encouragement and being an example of why Fishers continues to excel in the quest for a
vibrant community!
YMI mentoring is currently offered in the following nine schools: Fall Creek Intermediate, Fall Creek Junior High, Fishers
Junior High, Fishers High School, Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate Junior High, Hamilton Southeastern High School,
Riverside Intermediate, Riverside Junior High, Sand Creek Intermediate. Mentoring times vary according to the students
schedule and can be accommodating to the mentor’s work schedule! If you have an hour a week to spend with a
student, we’d love for you to consider joining us! Students can be recommended by counselors, teachers and parents
by completing a recommendation form on the YMI website. Learn more about becoming a mentor or financially
supporting our work by visiting us online at www.ymionline.org. YMI is changing the world, one student at a time.

Carrie Colglazier Scholarship Workday
Mark your calendars… The 17th Annual Carrie Colglazier Scholarship Workday is
Saturday, September 28th
On June 6th, 2003, former Hamilton Southeastern student-athlete Carrie Colglazier, was tragically
killed by a drunk driver. Carrie was a two sport All-State athlete in soccer and track and was very
involved in the FFA program here at HSE. She was also a member of National Honor Society. Carrie
was extremely passionate about her family, friends, teammates and her teachers/coaches. She took
a great deal of pride in being a Royal.
In cooperation with her parents, Hamilton Southeastern has set up a scholarship fund in honor of
Carrie. This will involve a workday on Saturday, September 28th. On this day the girl’s track and
soccer athletes, as well as our National Honor Society and FFA members, will be available to work for
an 8-hour day for a minimum $25 donation. All proceeds will go to the Carrie Colglazier Scholarship
Fund. This scholarship will be awarded at the academic banquet in May.
