    Before You Start

    Completing Your Application

    As you enter the application, read the instructions by pressing Need Helpon each screen. This Helpcontains essential information you need to know to complete the application. You should review theoverview of the student assistance program in the Student Loan Handbook. The handbook is availablefrom the About Student Loanslink located on the left side of each screen. The following tips will helpyou through the application process.

    Make sure you have your Saskatchewan Health Services Number (HSN).

    Make sure you have access to a printer as you may be required to print documents at the end of theprocess.

    If you are married, you will need your spouses Social Insurance Number (SIN) and other personaland nancial information.

    If you have dependent children, you will need the HSN for each child.

    If you are dependent upon your parents, you will need your parents Social Insurance Numbers,

    dates of birth and marital status. Keep your browser maximized through the application process so that you will be able to view the

    full screen.

    Do NOT use the Back button at the top of browser. Use Back, Next or Cancel at the bottom ofeach entry screen.

    You must press Nexton each screen to save your information. Pressing Backor Canceldoes notsave the information.

    Apply early! You may apply for assistance before you are ofcially accepted into your program aslong as you know the school and the dates of study. You cannot apply more than 4 months beforeyour program start date.

    The information reported must be current as of the date of application.

    Important Deadlines- Applications and any changes to information must be received 14 businessdays before your program end date to allow time for processing.

    You may be asked to conrm the income you declare on the application. Make sure you keep alldocuments related to your earnings and your spouses earnings, if you are married.

    It is your responsibility to understand and complete all applicable questions in the application. If yohave questions, contact the Student Service Centre (SSC) at 1.800.597.8278.

    Its important that you answer every question that applies to you. Missing information on anapplication will result in a delay in processing.

    If you do not press the Submit Applicationbuttonon the Review/Submit Application screen, theinformation you have entered will be deleted in 30 days.

    If you wish to meet to discuss any aspect of student assistance with a Client Service Representativeplease call ahead 1-800-597-8278 to make an appointment.

    Include your Social Insurance Number on all correspondence and have it available when calling theSSC or the National Student Loans Service Center (NSLSC).

    It is an offence under the Canada the Student Service Centre Act and The Saskatchewan StudentAssistance and Student Aid Fund Act, 1985to knowingly give false or misleading information on yourapplication or other forms. Offences may also be punishable under the Criminal Code of Canada.Allof the information you provide is subject to verication and audit.

    Create a Web Account

    To create a web account to apply for student assistance you must enter your Social InsuranceNumber (SIN) a secret password, a secret challenge question and your email address if you haveemail.

    Choose a password and challenge question that you will remember and that will not be easy forother people to guess.

    Your password must be 8 to 12 characters in length. It must contain at least one uppercase letter,at least one lower case letter and at least one number. Your password may also contain standardpunctuation and other characters such as: !@#$$%^&*()_+{}[];:.,/?

    Your challenge question must be something that only you know the answer to and somethingthat you will remember. Please note, the challenge question and answer you assign to your web

    account will be used to identify you if you call the Student Service Centre to reset your password.Make sure the question and answer are something you will remember and that they will notembarrass you if you have to reset your password.

    Always keep your Social Insurance Number, password and challenge question/answer condentialso that no one else can access your account.

    If you need to update your password, challenge question/answer or email address you may do soby clicking on update web account which is available after you have created your account.

    If you are having trouble creating a web account or accessing your web account, contact theStudent Service Centre at 1-800-597-8278.

    Log On

    If this is your rst application, you must create web account to log on and apply for assistance. Click

    Create Web Account.

    If you have already created a web account you can log on by entering your SIN number and password.

    If you forget your password, click forget your password.

    If you need to update your password, secret challenge question/answer or email address you may doso by clicking update web accountwhich is available after you have created your account.

    Always keep your Social Insurance Number, password and question/answer condential so that noone else can access your account.

    Update Web Account

    If you have forgotten your password, press the Forgot your passwordlink.

    If you know your password and challenge question and answer, you can make changes to yourpassword, email address or challenge question/answer.

    You will be required to enter your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and current password to updatethe information.

    You will not be able to update your Social Insurance Number.

    If you made an error entering your Social Insurance Number, you must call the Student ServiceCentre at 1-800-597-8278 to have your account removed so that you can begin again.

    Create/Update/Delete an Application

    Create Application

    Before you begin your on-line application you are required to read Before you start. This providesinformation about the program to ensure you know what you are applying for as well as tips on how tocomplete the on-line application.

    To begin entry of your application for assistance, make sure you select the correct loan year according tthe instructions under Create Full-Time Student Loan Application.

    Update or Delete Application

    You will be able to return to your account to update or to delete your on-line application if you do notnish the process by submittingthe application. Once the application has been submitted, you mustcontact the Student Service Centre at 1-800-597-8278 to make changes or to cancel the application.

    Review/Submit ApplicationWhen you press View Application you can review the information you have entered to ensure itis accurate.

    If there are errors or omissions, return to the screen to update the information. Remember to pressNext to save the information on each screen.

    You can access each screen by pressing the relevant button on the left hand side of the entry screen

    When you are condent the information is accurate, print the application information for yourrecords.

    When you press Submit Application your on-line application will be submitted electronically tothe Student Service Centre.

    If you receive a message indicating information is missing, click the link to the screen stated inthe message and update the information. Once you have updated the information, return to theReview/Submit Application screen and submit the application again. You will then be taken tothe Required Documents and Forms screen.

    Required Documents and Forms

    If you are having trouble printing the required documents or if you do not have a printer, please contacthe Student Service Centre at 1-800-597-8278 to have the documents mailed to you. You must print all the documents listed on this screen.

    If this is your rst loan you must print, read and sign the Applicant Consents, Authorizations andAgreements and forward to the Student Service Centre to nalize the processing of your student loanapplication. If you are married there will be a document for your spouse or if you are dependent therewill be a document for your parents.

    Starting in 2014-15, these documents will only need to be signed and sent in once in your academiccareer, unless there is a break in student nancial assistance for a period of 2 or more years.

    If you are attending a school other than a Saskatchewan university or Saskatchewan Polytechnic youwill be required to print the Program Information Form. This must be completed by your school andforwarded to the Student Service Centre.

    To protect your privacy, information about your application will not be released to a third partywithout your consent. If you would like your spouse, your parents or any other person to discuss yourapplication with the Student Service Centre you must complete and submit the Consent to ReleaseInformation Form. You are not required to list individuals at your educational institution on this consenform because you provide consent to share information between the school and the Student ServiceCentre when you sign your Consents, Authorizations and Agreements.

    Once all the required documentation is received.

    If you are eligible to receive student loans and this is your rst loan, you will receive a MasterStudent Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) along with your assessment results. You will alsoreceive an information page that describes what you need to do with your MSFAA in order to getyour money. By signing the MSFAA you agree to accept responsibility for all funding you receivefrom that date forward, so you will not have to sign another agreement for future loan assistance.

    If you received student loans after 2011-12 and you signed an MSFAA, you will not receive a newMSFAA. You will only receive your assessment results.

    Most schools will now conrm your enrolment automatically. The National Student Loan ServiceCenter will contact your school directly to conrm your enrolment once you have submitted acompleted MSFAA.

    Be sure to set up an on-line account with the National Student Loan Service Center so that you cancheck the status of your enrolment. The online account will also allow you to check review thedetails of the funding you have received and other valuable information to keep you informed ofyour account activity.
