Since 1970, Earth Day has been observed on April 22, but you can do your part to protect the environment every day! With global pollution reaching dangerous levels, it is more important than ever to make eco– friendly choices, such as separating recyclables from garbage and reducing energy consumption. Try these easy, unique ways to reduce your carbon footprint even more: 1) Go without meat one day a week to reduce the environmental impact of raising livestock. 2) Switch to unscented soaps to keep harsh chemicals from going down the drain and back into the environment. Want to use soaps that leave a nice fragrance on your skin? Choose soaps that are scented with essential oils, which aren't harmful to you or the environment. 3) Nix those dryer sheets to take the toxins out of doing your laundry. A natural alternative for softening your clothes and preventing static cling is to add 12 cup of white distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle. Need A New Hobby? April is a perfect time to get outside and pick up a new, unique hobby! How about mastering circus arts, like juggling and riding a unicycle? G E T THE MOST OUT OF YOUR CAREERNo matter where you work or what you do, now is the time to get the most out of your career! Forbes, a popular business magazine, tells us in today’s workforce, workers want their jobs to provide purpose, not just a paycheck. In other words, workers want to make a positive contribution to people’s lives, shape their communities, learn new skills, and even advance within their company. This month, we offer you tips for finding your purpose and boosting your earning potential.

Build confidence. Everyone should build career confidence, from entry-level to senior-level workers, contractors to executives, even if you plan to stay in your current job. Two ways you can build confidence are by improving your job-related skills and learning new ones. No time to attend classes? No problem. Udemy, Coursera, and other online learning programs help you master skills like graphic design or accounting in the comfort of your own home.

Tip: Ask your employer about reimbursing you for training that will boost your productivity in your current job. When you’re good at what you do and strive to get even better, you become a more valued member of your current work team and make yourself more competitive on the job market. Employers and co-workers will be proud to have you around!

Prepare for change. If you are ready to change careers or apply for a promotion at your current workplace, start training yourself today to enter an industry that’s growing. Business News Daily tells us that the industries that offer the most opportunities for workers include technology, healthcare, environmental conservation, and online shopping industries. In fact, the ever-popular Amazon recently announced that it will be creating 100,000 new jobs over the next two years.

After you decide on the path you’d like to take, your next steps should be to learn the skills needed for the position you seek. At the same time, update your resume, listing your most

relevant and recent job experiences at the very top and make a list of references who will vouch for your work ethic and professionalism when asked by potential employers. Then, begin creating job seeker profiles on sites like CareerBuilder and Glassdoor.

While you build confidence and prepare for change, always be on the lookout for side-gigs. If you’re creative, try selling your arts and crafts on Etsy. If you love animals, try pet-sitting or grooming as they happen to be part of the ever-growing pet care industry. You never know where opportunities like these will lead!
