As the “Experts in the Game and Business of Golf” the power of education is the single most im-portant way to help enhance and transform our industry. Many of today’s thriving industries out-side of the golf industry have alluded to the fact that there is a strong correlation between the eco-nomic viability of an industry and its education attained by those who work in it.

It is a priority of the Section to provide meaningful educational opportunities for you to meet these requirements. To review your current MSR status, please go to www.pgalinks.com and login. Un-der “your membership data” will be your current credits earned and what is still required.

To receive MSR’s for your Player Development Program, please complete the “MSR Report Form” and submit it to Nebraska Section Player Development Coordinator, Joe Canny, PGA at [email protected] or by fax 402-489-1785.

What: Complimentary PGA Online Education

Information: 1 MSR will be received per video and upon

completion of the assessments with a 70% or

higher. You will be allowed (1) re-take

opportunity.

MSR credit may be earned only one time for any

online MSR course.

Something that has made a huge splash with our

membership is something we call “Play with the Pros” for

both the men and women members of our Club. This has

been a great opportunity for our membership to sign up to

play with their pros and have some fun in a laid back

Club event. For each of the three pros we offered 4

groups at $100 per team for the men and 2 groups at $45

per team for the women. We play a 2 Net Best Ball of

Four with the lowest group for each pro advancing to play

in our “Play With the Pros Championship” late September. After presenting the coveted traveling trophy, we finish

up with a nice filet dinner for the final three groups including the pros and spouses. It was such a big hit last year, we

decided to add two more groups for each of the pros. This event has not only allowed the golf shop to make a little

money but more importantly the staff spends valuable time with members on the golf course. I recommend every

Club to do something similar by getting out and playing with your members.

Vermeer Breezes to Win at National Car Rental

Pro-Am Series Event

Team Shaner captures team division

Team Tiburon Wins 2014 Nebraska PGA

Pro/Junior Championship

BELLEVUE, NE- Ryan

Vermeer, Apprentice

Professional at Tiburon G.C.

continued his dominance

this week at Platteview C.C.

in the All Star Pro Golf/E-Z-

GO Pro-Scratch after

shooting a two-under-par 70 for first place in the

Professional Division. Vermeer’s four birdie

performance led him to a one shot victory over Shane

Zywiec, PGA Teaching Professional at Highlands

G.C.

The team division went to the team of Tony

Baranowski, Apprentice Professional at Shadow

Ridge C.C. and his amateur teammate Mark Soulliere

who combined for a six-under-par 66 in the four-ball

competition to beat the team of Steve Diehm, PGA

Head Professional at Table Creek and Tim Diehm by

one shot. The bogey free 66 put together by

Baranowski and Soulliere featured four birdies and

one eagle on the par 5 second hole.

This event included a low amateur division, which

was won by Bryce Brown after shooting a three-

under-par 69 which was three better then Joey

Baldwin who finished with an even-par 72. Brown’s

69 featured four birdies to just one bogey. The

Nebraska PGA would like to thank Bobby O’Keefe,

PGA General Manager of Platteview Country Club

and today’s sponsors; JP Kramer of All Star Pro Golf,

Omaha, NE. – Area amateur and PGA Professional

golfers teed off for the final National Car Rental PGA

Pro-Am Series event in at

Happy Hollow Club.

Professional and Amateur

golfers competing in

Nebraska’s largest

Pro-Am’s of the year were

treated to far from perfect golfing conditions with an

hour and forty minute delay in the morning and

extremely windy conditions in the afternoon. Ryan

Vermeer of Tiburon Golf Club capitalized on his

timely putting to post a winning score of two-under-

par 69 in the fierce winds. Finishing two strokes back

of Vermeer at even-par 71 was Mike Antonio, PGA of

Happy Hollow Club.

It wasn’t close in the team division as the team with

Matt Shaner, PGA of Kearney Country Club, amateur

partners Rick Smith, Howard Dondlinger and Rod

Betke finishing at an impressive 18-under-par. Five

strokes back with a strong performance was at two

way tie for second with the team of Ryan Vermeer of

Tiburon, amateur partners Jason Greatorex, David

James and Mike Vanier and the team of Chris

Wiemers, PGA of Happy Hollow, amateur partners

Greg McDermott, Stephen Noel and John Schuele.

Results are now in from the 2014 Compensation Survey with almost 15,000 PGA Professionals participating in the survey this year. To access the results from the 2014 Compensation Survey, as well as gain access to previous year’s Compensation data, please go to PGALinks.com and navigate to the Research tab. The online interactive reporting tool is intended to provide invaluable information to assist with performance evaluations, contract renewals, staff budgeting and other employer/employee interactions. It allows you to know where you stand on the compensation scale in comparison with fellow PGA Professionals, as well as determining what components are most likely to affect your earnings, both locally and on a broader scale based on a variety of factors. Your PGA Employment Consultants are experts at working with this data and can be called upon to assist you in deciphering the survey’s key findings as they pertain to you or your facility. Click here or log on to PGALinks.com and navigate to the Research area to begin using the tool immediately. Thank you for helping to ensure that one of our Association's most powerful employment tools remains effective for you and other PGA Professionals.

The end of PDP Cycle 14A slightly less than one year away; June 15, 2015. As of this writing, 29.7% of Nebraska PGA Members with an MSR requirement have met that requirement. A promotional plan is being created that will include email notifications, direct mail letters, PGALinks Newsletter articles and

messages appearing periodically on PGALinks. The 2014 PGA Fashion and Demo Experience, Las Vegas, NV in August 2014, the 2014 Annual Meeting, Indianapolis, IN in November 2014, and the 2015 PGA Merchandise Show, Orlando, FL in January 2015, are the remaining National events where MSR can be obtained. The complimentary video seminars, implemented on PGALinks in April 2014, are still available to take advantage of.

According to the PGA Constitution and Bylaws, dues are payable by June 30, 2014 to avoid suspension and assessment of the $100 Late Fee. An email reminder and printed invoices to those without an email ad-dress has been sent as of June 4, 2014.

The deadline for submitting the monthly PGA PerformanceTrak reports has changed from the 22nd to the 24th of each month. Visit PGALinks.com for information about PGA PerformanceTrak and why you should be using it.

Commencing on July 1, the PGA of America will roll out its new Youth Safety Program initiative for all PGA and PGA Section junior golf. The program is designed to provide criminal background checks for individuals that have direct involvement with Junior Golf Programs throughout the country. With PGA of America members being recognized leaders in junior golf programs nationwide, the PGA Board of Directors strongly believed that all national and Section junior golf programs should be required to fulfill youth safety program requirements in order to conduct programs that carry the brand of the PGA. Click here to read more about the initial roll out plan for this program.
