Students: Please bring your Chromebooks and ID cards to school with
you each day.
Parents: Students are still able to eat lunch if they forget or lose their
cards. They may have to go to the back of the line, however, so that
the lunch clerks can assist them after the other students with cards
have made their way through the line. The goal is to get nearly 300
students served and seated as quickly and smoothly as possible.
Bus Passes – Students and Parents Please Read
If your child will be riding the bus home with another student, he will need a bus pass. We ask that you send a note to the
office before school starts stating your child’s name, grade, who he will be riding the bus with, the date, and the bus
number, if known. You may also call 961-9530 (press 0) and leave this information with a secretary before 8:10.
Students, if you need to call a parent to get a pass during school hours, you must do it in the office during recess right
after you eat---not at the end of recess. You will be marked with an unexcused tardy if you do not make it to your next
class on time.
No bus passes will be written after 2:00 p.m.
Peace Poster Contest
The Lions Club sponsors the Peace Poster Contest, which encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of
peace. The theme this year was “Journey of Peace”. Students ages 11-13 were eligible to participate. Each poster was
judged on originality, artistic merit, and communication of the theme.
Congratulations to the following IMS students who placed at the local level: Chloe Chaplin (3rd place), Ryker Burgin (2nd
place), and Ceci McDonald (1st place). Ceci’s poster is on its way to the next level of competition. Please stop by to view
the entire peace poster display around the Blake Fieldhouse lobby.

Battle of the Books Contest at IMS
Students at IMS are invited to join this contest
by reading as many books from the Iowa Teen
Award list as possible between now and
February! In February, there will be a test over
all of the books. The six students with the
highest scores on the test will represent IMS at
the Fairfield competition in March. Last year,
our IMS "Book Tribe" won the contest. Our goal
is to return and reclaim the title! Multiple
copies of the books are available in the middle
school library. Here is a link to the list and more
information about the competition. You may
contact Mrs. Bauer (Ext. 3102) with any
questions.

Reminder to Parents and Students:
The building does not open to students until 7:00 a.m. unless you are here for a morning activity with a teacher.
If you are dropped off before 7:00, please wait by the Main Entrance doors – not the fieldhouse. A staff
member will let you in when they arrive. Dress for the weather if you arrive before the building is open.
Activity Passes
If you purchased an activity pass for your child, there should be a black “19” sticker on the school ID. This is what your
student must show at the gate to get into games without paying admission. Please remind your student that if he didn’t
get a sticker but you purchased the pass he must go to the main office with his ID.
If you haven’t purchased an activity pass, there is still time. The cost is $50 and it allows your student entry into home h igh
school and middle school athletic events and some music events. You may purchase this pass in the front office (cash or
check only) or click here and select Middle School.
Watch School Events Online!
If you missed your child’s concert, game, etc., and wish there was a way to see it, you may be in luck! The following link will
take you to the High School Sports Network-Indianola page. You will find several events listed for all grades in the
