NEPAL CHRISTIAN RELIEF SERVICES ( NCRS) Praise & Prayers for March & April 2014

Dear NCRS Partners and Friends,

We are very pleased to share about our mission's Praise & Prayers for March & April 2014 for you to praise and prayer with us. Hope you will join with us in supporting the people in their adversity and needs affected by various disasters and calamities in Nepal.

Disaster Management Training

NCRS had organized disaster management training on dated 6th, 7th & 10th March, 2014. The training was facilitated by UMN. In the training, 14 people participated from different organization and Church of Kathmandu valley. The participants were benefitted through the training and are keen to assist in disaster response.

Emergency Relief Support

Kathmandu: On dated 12th March, 2014, we were able to distribute food and non food items to 21 families under the partnership with DRCC ( Disaster Relief Christian Committee) in Sinamangal, Kathmandu who were displaced by fire. The distributed food items were Rice=5 kg, Lentils=2 kg, Oils=1ltr salt=1kg, Bathing and washing soap=1 to each family and Trapaullin=2 to the 21 families under the presence of DRCC members and NCRS board

with the cooperation of Local Mirmire Youth Club. The families expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards us for the generous support in their need.

Site-Visits on disaster affected areas:

As you are aware, we are experiencing fire in the different parts of Nepal-mainly in the terai region. As a result, some people lost their lives, hundreds of people are displaced and millions of properties were gutted. Among all fire affected district NCRS has conducted survey visits in Parsa and Nawalparasi district.

Participants of the Disaster Management Training

Parsa: In Parsa, Hariharpur VDC there had been fire on 13th March 2014. There are 19 families who are displaced by fire and compel to live in temporary tents. We conducted visit there in 24th-25th April 2014 in coordination with district Red Cross Society, Parsa.

Nawalparasi: There had been a fire in Agyauli and Prasauni VDC on 26th March and 2nd April 2014 respectively, where we had visit in 26th -27th April 2014. A team from Asal Chhimekki Nepal at Agyauli and Christian Church Parisad at Prasauni had supported NCRS to make those visits. Due to the fire 3 families in Agayauli and 5 families in Prasauni displaced.

We are on the way to provide rehabilitation support by making of shelter with toilet facility to those displaced families. Please pray so that we able to step this project as soon as possible as the people are in desperate need.

Monitoring and Supervision Visit

Chitwan: On dated 26-28th April ‘2014 a team of four members comprised Chairman and two staff including resource person from Ebenezer Animal Firm conducted monitoring and supervision visit at Badarjhula, Chitwan to observe and monitor the impact of livestock support for the 102 family which was distributed to them on 25th August and 16th September, 2013 respectively. They were suffered from great hunger due to severe drought few years ago. The program has been great support for the beneficiaries and it becomes a means to generate income for their livelihood. The project got more than 90% achievement.

Prayer Requests: 1. We are experiencing different major and minor disasters every year and that claimed hundreds of lives, many people injured and displaced along with the loss of hundreds and millions worth of properties. Please do continue to pray for us so that we may able to reach out to them and provide necessary supports. 2. To provide Relief Support in Jajarkot for 75 families who have been affected by landslides in July 2013. 3. To provide Rehabilitation support for 19 families of Hariharpur VDC in Parsa district and 3

families of Agyauli VDC and 5 families of Prasauni VDC in Nawalparasi district who were displaced by fire in 26th March, 2014 and 2nd April, 2014 respectively and are living in temporary tent. They are in need of building shelter and livelihood.

4. To provide Relief support for 22 families in Bramhapuri VDC, Rautahat who were displaced by fire on 24th May, 2014. They are living in temporary tents on very worse condition.

5. To support four Christian families including church in Dhading at Ri-VDC, Kichet whose houses were burnt in fire.

6. To support three Christian families of Jharlang, Dhading who lost their houses on fire. Our urgent needs:

a. For a motorbike for office use. b. For photocopier and scanner/machine c. For a technical person

d. Required fund for the year 2013/2014. Conclusion:
