NEPAL CHRISTIAN RELIEF SERVICES ( NCRS) Praise & Prayers for January & February 2014

Dear NCRS Partners and Friends,

We are very pleased to share about our mission's Praise & Prayers for January & February 2014 for you to praise and prayer with us. Hope you will join with us in supporting the people in their adversity and needs affected by calamities and disasters.

Emergency Relief Response on Cold Wave

Saptari

We praise God for the blanket distribution on dated 15th January 2014 to the people of Saptari Eastern part of Nepal who were badly affected by cold wave. Altogether, 210 families from Daulatpur and Rajbiraj VDCs received blankets. The blankets handed over by the Chief District Officer and other senior officers from government agencies including Red Cross where many political leaders, local reporters and other community and church leaders were attended.

Rautahat

NCRS able to distribute blankets on dated 16th January, 2014, into three VDCs Rangapur, Bishrampur, Santapur including Chapur municipality of Rautahat district to 215 families. The families expressed their gratitude for providing blankets in this chilly winter.

Kanchanpur

We distributed blankets to 213 families on dated 20th January, 2014 into three VDCs ( Village Development Committee ) Parasan, Tribhuban Basti and Kalika of

Kanchanpur district. The very poor and disadvantages people benefitted through the program.

An awareness program on Cold wave also conducted during and after blanket distribution. The entire project of blanket distribution as mentioned above into three different district Saptari, Rautahat and Kanchanpur were funded by NCRS partner organization, Mennonite Central Committee Nepal. We would like to thanks for the generous support in this regards.

Emergency Relief Support in Baitadi

We praise God, despite of various challenges and a long persistence we are able to provide Relief Support for the people affected by floods/landslides and severe cold in Baitadi on dated 18th January 2014.

We distributed 30kg of Rice, 5kg of Pluses, 1ltr of Cooking oil and 1kg of Salt to 205 families under the presence of Government authorities including Red Cross and other community leaders. Along with food stuff we also provided blankets to each beneficiary. All the family expressed their heartfelt gratitude for this generous support in their difficulties and needs. Our partner organization, Samaritan's Purse Canada funded for the Relief Support. We are very grateful for the kind and significant support to bring the hope and smiles in the lives of those helpless people.

Partnership with Disaster Relief Christian Community (DRCC)

We have been able to do various relief programs under the partnership with DRCC in different times in many needed parts of Kailali, Kanchanpur, Kapilbastu, Makwanpur and

Taplejung amongst the people affected by floods, landslides and fire. The executed programs were food aid, supporting in building shelters and livelihood programs for the victims. The body of ten energetic and active representatives from main line churches and organizations formed the team who have passions and heart for the mission. We praise the Lord for HIS continues blessing and guidance throughout all the programs. Prayer Requests: 1. We are experiencing different major and minor disasters every year and that claimed hundreds of lives, many people injured and displaced along with the loss of hundreds and millions worth of properties. Therefore, we would like to prepare relief kits and materials with necessary funds to address possible calamities and disasters on time. Therefore, please pray and join with us in this effort. 2. To provide Relief Support in Jajarkot for 150 families who have been affected by landslides in July 2013. 3. To provide Rehabilitation support for 47 families of Musahar Tribal of Rayapur VDC in Saptari district who were displaced by fire in March, 2013. They are living in temporary tents on very worse condition and in great need of building shelter and livelihood. 4. To provide Relief and Rehabilitation support for 160 families in Darchula who were displaced by flood/landslides. 5. To support four Christian families including church in Dhading at Ri-VDC, Kichet whose houses were burnt in fire. 6. To support three Christian families of Jharlang, Dhading who lost their houses on fire.

Our urgent needs:

a. For a scooter and a bicycle for office use.

b. For photocopier and scanner/machine

c. For a technical person

d. Required fund for the year 2013/2014.
