    Preservation CelebrationIn recognition o May as Preserva-tion Month, NCPTT presented itsfrst Preservation Celebrationcommunity air. The come-and-

    go event was held at Lee H. Nel-son Hall and was ree to the pub-lic. NCPTT sta and communitypartners presented interactivedemonstrations o preservationtechniques and concepts o sig-nifcance in the local area. Theseincluded basic cemetery conser-vation, bousillage construction,local archeological landscapesand limewash fnishes. NCPTTspreservation partners presentedexhibits at Nelson Hall as well.

    neering or Older and HistoricBuildings was held June 6-16.Prospection in Depth: Devel-oping Advanced GPS, GIS andGeophysical Skills through Plan-tation Archeology was held June6-23.     Limewash StudyNCPTT has completed its studyon the durability o traditionaland modifed limewashes. Theproject addresses needs o the

    Cane River Creole National His-torical Park. The study rankedthe durability o limewashesbased on adhesion, abrasion re-sistance, and artifcial weather-ing. Researchers tested 13 com-binations that were applied inthree coats to weathered wood,rough-sawn wood, handmadeand modern brick, and epoxywood fller. NCPTT presentedthe results at the 2006 Tradi-tional Building Conerence.
