“Invited to choose colors uniquely suited to the northeast, I dove deep into my gargantuan collection of loose color chips. I first chose reliable favorites, then added every winning color suited to our fickle northeastern light. As the conflict to reduce my choices by half began to pain me, I relied on my belief that few color decisions will set our mind and spirit at ease more reliably than the choice to surround ourselves with color we intuitively perceive as familiar. I know well the inexplicable glimmer of an icy morning, and the visual delight of happening upon a stand of sunflowers. There is a pleasure in these scenes, which captivates us, gives us pause, and offers up a color for our consideration. I hope The Northeast Color Collection will open your eyes to new favorites.”

Meet the Color Master

Color expert, DIY enthusiast, interior designer, author and blogger, Lucianna Samu heads up the team of color specialists at Aubuchon Hardware. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lu’s personal quest for design opportunities stands at 13 whole house renovations done and counting. Even a self- described serial renovator needs an edge, and for Lu, it’s her belief that all truly great designs begin and end with color. Lu’s most recent rescue, a dilapidated 215-year-old Farmhouse that she now calls “lucky thirteen”, remains a feature on the Benjamin Moore blog, Color Chats.
