Got to Be NC Pavilion presented by AgriSupply has moved to Dorton Arena. From local products to farmer spotlights, a cooking demonstration stage to pop-up competitions, this exhibit is not to be missed. Not only can you learn how North Carolina’s agricul-tural diversity impacts your life every day, but you can also taste and purchase products made by your neighbors in North Carolina. Open daily 9 a.m. to 9:45 p.m., except for Thursday, Oct. 14, when the exhibit opens at noon.

The NC Public House has moved! Due to overwhelming support, and the need for more space the NC Public House has moved to the South Side Dorton Arena Lobby just across from the State Fair SkyGazer Ferris Wheel. Patrons can purchase $10 tickets, which provides their choice of two three-ounce servings of wine or two eight-ounce servings of beer or cider. Tickets for craft sodas can be purchased for $5 each. This popular attraction is a partnership with the N.C. Craft Brewers Guild and the N.C. Wine and Grape Council. North Carolina is home to 350-plus craft breweries and 185 winer-ies. Opens at noon daily and runs until 10 p.m., except for Friday and Saturday nights when the hours are extended until 11 p.m.

Folk Festival performances will move to a tent beside the Old Church near the round Holshouser Building. The move aligns the Folk Festival near other heritage crafts and exhibits in the Village of Yesteryear and in Heritage Circle. The Folk Festival is both a com-petition and celebration of North Carolina dance and music. The individual and group performances draw a crowd daily because of their high-energy and lively music.

NEW 2021 LOCATIONS

New Special Day: On Sunday, Oct. 17, the State Fair will host its first accessABILITY Day presented by Bandwidth. This special event day for people with disabilities, will offer a quieter, less stimulat-ing environment with rides, games and vendor booths operating with no lights or music from 8 a.m. to noon. And music on the entertainment stages will be acoustic sets with light amplification. Throughout the day, there will be a Bandwidth Chill Out Zone, offering a quieter spot for guests who may need to take a break from the busy outdoor atmosphere; specially designed inclusive or adaptive “on the spot” competitions, noise cancelling headphones that can be checked out and guidebooks highlighting all the inclu-sive activities offered.

New Competitions: Decorated Christmas trees, painted rocks, planted wheelbarrows, decorated footwear and decorated socks. The decorated Christmas tree contest features two categories of decorations – one for any holiday theme and a second for vintage or antique ornaments. You can find out more about the competi-tions at www.ncstatefair.org and click on the competitions tab.

New Schedule for Livestock Shows: North Carolina’s livestock industry will have more days to highlight its contribution to the state’s economy. Livestock competitions will expand, spreading competitions out over three weekends. The junior competition kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 13, running through Thursday, Oct. 21. The Junior Livestock Sale of Champions moves to Friday, Oct. 22, in the Jim Graham Building. Activities take place in the Jim Graham Building and Exposition Center

New Building: The N.C. Forest Service and N.C. Soil and Water Conservation are getting a new home in 2021. A special feature of the building is that the walls will be covered in boards representing native North Carolina wood types. Check it out up the hill from Heritage Circle in the State Fair Conservation Forest presented by Enviva.

NEW IN 2021

Since 1993, Fairgoers have donated more than 5.3 million pounds of food to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day is Thursday, Oct. 21. Bring six cans of food and get in free! You can even add a monetary donation to your online ticket purchase through the State Fair Cares program. Help us meet the needs of our community and gain free admission!
