“Why do we have to take these long and boring tests?” Helps identify your strengths and

weaknesses. NOTE: All test forms and colors are equal in

difficulty! So don’t let the colors fool you! Red is NOT harder than the other colors!!

Helps teachers evaluate how well they teach based on your scores.

Assures that everyone, after graduation, possesses the skills necessary for the real world.

“Why is my score important?”

All of your scores help the state to grade NBMS on their performance.

Good EOG scores = Good grade for NBMS!

Also used in determining student progress and ability in reading and math.

If you are in 8th grade, you will have 3 scores: Reading, Math and Science!

Good Practices in Test Taking Eat a good, HEALTHY breakfast.

Fuel for thought – protein!

Get a 8 hours of sleep. No texting/IMing/talking into the middle

of the night.

Take your time but pace yourself. Attempt every question. Mark the

ones that you don’t know and come back later.

***Make sure to skip that number on your answer sheet too.

Eliminate all of the choices that you know can’t be right.

Good Practices cont. ALWAYS stop at every 10th question to make sure

your answer sheet matches the question that you are answering.

Again….MARK YOUR ANSWERS IN YOUR BOOK AND BUBBLE SHEET!!

Use the time remaining to recheck your answers! Go back to complete skipped questions and make sure all bubbles are filled.

Don’t change any answers unless you’re sure they’re wrong. Your 1st answer is most likely correct.

Ignore other students- Don’t assume your falling behind if someone finishes before you!! Maybe they’re rushing through in a panic. Work at your own pace & focus on doing YOUR BEST!

RELAX! Take a deep breath every once in a while.
