SAP Key User Training Program in Finance Dear colleagues, As we strive to improve the technology knowledge at NBK, the SAP Key User Training for the Finance Department was launched on the 26th of October 2009. As with the success of the SAP Dealer Business Management (DBM) program, the SAP Key User Program for Finance is our means of deploying training by lev-eraging on existing “Key” users who are identified as subject matter experts in their own field. The Key Users attended a Train-The-Trainer (T3) workshop to help them develop their teaching skills in prepara-tion for the new role. We have been successful with this approach and we’re doing the same for the corporate units – the Finance Department being the first one. Forty One (41) employees have participated in Seven (7) training sessions cover-ing various SAP processes specific to Finance such as General Ledger (GL), Post-dated Check Process (PDC), Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, and Report painter. Participants and Key Users alike were very appreciative for the training sessions and have shared the following testimo-nials: • “This training helps me a lot because it clarified the areas that I’m not too fa-
miliar with SAP…helps clear out the doubts.” • “I’m glad I attended this training because SAP is what I use every day and this
gave me more ideas on how to maximize its capabilities making me work faster.”
• “I’ve already familiar with SAP but attending these sessions taught me more that I never realized were possible in the first place.”
• “These trainings help me understand the other accounting processes that I don’t exactly do but affects my job. It helps me see the bigger picture and how

Performance Management Review – December 2009 cycle
Dear colleagues, December 2009 marks the end of our third review for the Performance Management Program. During November and December, expect your supervisor or manager to schedule a review / coaching & feedback session to capture your contributions as of December 2009. This exercise aims to: • Identify employee’s strengths and how to further leverage on them • Identify employee’s areas for improvement and create a develop-
ment plan to address them i.e. Training needed, Technical, Compe-tency, Technology, etc.
• Compare accomplishments against set goals and objectives from the last review period
• Set clear goals and objectives for the next review period The key purpose of this program is to promote continuous improvement, and identify areas to be improved. This also allows the time for manag-ers, supervisors, and employees to discuss how their achievements di-rectly contribute to the success of Nasser Bin Khaled and recognize the contributions of employees, clarify goals and objectives. All performance reviews are due in HR before January 1, 2010. Everyone is encouraged to arrange to make sure you have your review session scheduled with your supervisor or manager before then. Good luck everyone! HR Department NBK

Your Health, Our Concern!
HEALTHY LIVING
Many of us enter a new year resolved to eat better, slim down, or seek care for a nagging health problem. But as the year unfolds, we manage to put off our good in-tentions and slip back into old negative habits.
The following checklist provides a quick review of what's important for general health. It may help you iden-tify the primary goals needing your attention in the coming months. Number them in order of importance to you. • I am within 10-15 pounds / 5-7
kilograms of my healthiest weight.
• I follow a schedule for routine screenings with my provider.
• I accumulate 30-60 minutes of aerobic physical ac-tivity most days of the week.
• I do strength-training exercises 2-3 times a week. • I eat at least 7 servings of fruits and vegetables a
day. • I limit foods high in saturated fat and avoid those with
trans fat. • I don’t use tobacco, or am seeking help with quitting. • I limit alcohol to no more than 2 standard drinks a
day. • I brush my teeth twice a day and floss them every day
and have routine dental checks. • I usually get 7-8 hours of sleep a day. • I feel generally positive and hopeful. • I have a network of friends for mutual support and fun. • I relax and find quiet time most days.
The next six months offer a clean slate and a chance to set new targets. You may be juggling a busy schedule, but don’t leave your health priorities behind. Each day ask yourself, "What am I doing today to achieve this goal?" Perhaps the first area to master is time - start tracking how you send it so you can fit in the activities you need to succeed.
Health Notes Sunscreen - most people apply a little too infre-quently for adequate protection from harmful UVA / UVB radiation, according to dermatologists. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, even if you are going to be outside for les than an hour, since sweat can quickly thin it. For full cov-erage, the average adult body needs about one ounce, the amount in a shot glass. Apply it about a half hour before you head outside and use it even on cloudy days. Note: The SPF number only indicates protection against UVB. For protection against UVA, look for product that con-tains avobenzone (Parsol- 1789), Mexoryl, titanium diox-ide and lor zinc oxide, advises Dermatology.ca. Carbon monoxide (CO) detectors deserve a place aboard boats and RVs with cooking and heating equip-ment, or in any tightly sealed, energy-efficient home. CO is deadly odorless invisible gas produced by faulty heat-ers and stoves. CO detectors can sound an alarm when dangerous levels of the gas are present. Make your day work well. Disorganization wastes time. Most of us spend hours every week looking for stuff when we could be doing something productive. Pull it together: Purge old files, piles of papers and reading material, clean and store tools and find a permanent place for everything- the hours you spend organizing and creating structure will come back to you as saved time when you need it most. Have some WHOLEsome carbo-hydrates. When buying whole grains look for "whole" grain listed first in the ingredient list, such as whole wheat, whole oats, or whole-grain cornmeal. Every day, make at least half of the grains you eat whole grain- one serving equals 1 slice of whole-wheat bread, 30 g f cold whole-grain cereal, or a half-cup/125 ml of cooked brown rice. This plan could reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Techniques for Balance (Part III) Alan Weiss, Ph.D., CMC – Founder, Summit Consulting Group
Ignore other people's "rules" unless you're in their house. Some guy tells me that he "has to hesitate to follow me on Twitter because I don't use it cor-rectly." I guess they skipped the secret decoder ring when they accepted my email account. People make rules because you’re racing too far ahead of them. Next time you’re apt to quickly poke fun or be sarcastic, and you believe that “casting the first stone” is an empty Biblical admonition, think about David Let-terman. When you focus on someone’s needs, instead of the features and benefits of your alternative, you become a source of unique value and not another end-less, price-sensitive commodity. Most people jump to their feet after a mediocre play because of two factors: They’ve lost the power to discriminate between good and average, and they don’t want to take the ego blow of appearing “not to get it.”
If you feel as if the driver ahead who didn’t signal, or the passenger in front of you who reclined the seat into your lap, or the person talking during the movie, are uniquely tormenting you, then you need to work on your persecution complex. It’s healthy to forgive someone who hurt you, but it’s unhealthy to allow them to hurt you repeatedly.

Energy Drains
If you seem to lack the energy to move forward, ask yourself this question.
What is draining you? Are there negative habits or thought patterns that steal your energy away? Make the effort to identify them and make the commitment to change. Are there people in your life who drain your energy with their negativity? Choose to get yourself more often around more positive, enthusiastic, empowered and empowering people. Are you being constantly depleted by your focus on the world's difficulties? Challenge yourself to identify the positive possibilities that are present in every difficult situation, and remember that the future is what you make it. Is too much of your energy being consumed by a particular shortcoming in your skills or abilities? Take the time to make improvements in those skills, and transform weakness into strength.
Whatever may be draining your energy, you can find it and successfully
deal with it. Once you do, you will find you have all that is necessary to accomplish whatever you choose.
