Dear friends,Welcome to the 2011 Season of Youth America Grand Prix. On behalf of all of us at YAGP, we would like to thank our partici-pants, parents, teachers, dance profession-als, and contributors for helping our organi-zation become the world’s leading dance education initiative that has given over 25,000 dance students worldwide a chance to pursue their dream of a professional career in dance.

11 years ago YAGP pioneered the idea of a scholarship ballet competition in the United States – and this year marks another “first” from YAGP: the creation of “Young Dancer Database” (YDD), a comprehensive photo/video database of young dancers world-wide. Searchable by schools and compa-nies all over the world, YDD will be available to all current finalists of YAGP – and to all past YAGP alumni.

This extraordinary new tool will help danc-ers connect to scholarship or professional employment opportunities all over the globe. This season YAGP will also launch the “YAGP Job Fair,” as part of which

Artistic Directors of the world’s leading dance companies will attend a special au-dition class at NYC Finals designed specifi-cally to showcase young talent seeking pro-fessional employment.

Another YAGP “first” in 2011 is “Ballet Grand Prix”: the U.S. tour of the YAGP Gala, which will give audiences across America a chance to see the stars of today and the stars of to-morrow in one spectacular Gala evening.

YAGP is committed to expanding the op-portunities it provides to the widest possible number of dance students – and so we are pleased to announce the opening of a YAGP semi-final in Paris, France. We believe that it will give European dance students greater access to YAGP’s network of unprecedent-ed educational and professional opportuni-ties available to all current and past YAGP participants.

Together with programs already running successfully at YAGP – such as “Dance in Higher Education” and “YAGP NYC Inten-sive” – we hope these new initiatives will help fulfill YAGP’s mission to raise the next generation of dance artists.

Welcome to the 12th Season of Youth America Grand Prix!

With warmest regards, Larissa and Gennadi Saveliev
