NROTC Candidate Guidance OfficeNROTC Candidate Guidance Office

Mentoring, coaching, and support to NROTC diversity candidates as they navigate the NROTC scholarship and college application processes until they report to their respective NROTC Unit as Midshipmen.

Create fully developed networks that consist of volunteers, alumni, of Navy accession programs (retired, active and reserve components) professional associations, and affinity groups that share our commitment to diversity.

NROTC CGO will be critical to ensuring officer accessions achieves the CNO’s 2037 diversity goals.

Head, Candidate Guidance Office (CGO): Responsible for the direction of the Candidate Guidance Office and the

Diversity Outreach Program. Diversity Outreach Coordinator:

A senior staff member who coordinates the activities of the Field Candidate Guidance Officer’s in support of the outreach to minority applicants and selection goals. Also develops and maintains files of statistical data on minority candidates.

Base CGO: Creates diversity contacts from website application starts Disperse contacts per region Coordinates with NRDs and COIs for region events Follows-up and facilitates communication with

applicants/parents/recruiters/units Mentors applicant on application completion (i.e., SAT/ACT, essay,

activities, courses, etc.) Submits selection board input, assists boards with diversity applicant

background and qualifications Counsels applicants to best match university/unit Generates required reports/updates to COC
