6. Nature of Duties in Brief: Fireman must be physically fit and capable of performingstrenuous duties. Major duties of a Fireman are as follows:-(a) Fire Fighting.(b) Rescue of men and animals in distress.(c) Attend training classes.(d) Participate in Emergency drills and simulations.(e) Study street locations and get acquainted with buildings.(f) Daily physical training which includes Fire drill.(g) Fire Station maintenance.(h) Inspect and maintain portable fire fighting appliances.(j) Educate public concerning fire and life safety.(k) Assist in fire prevention programs.

8. Mode of Selection(a) Shortlisting of Applications: Where the number of applications received is too

large in proportion to the vacancies and it is not convenient or possible for thedepartment to call all candidates for the written examination, Indian Navy at theirdiscretion may restrict number of eligible candidates whose applications areregistered online by shortlisting as per merit in the ratio 1:200 to the number ofvacancies in each category based on the marks obtained in the minimumrequisite essential qualification for this recruitment/post i.e. matriculation fromrecognised Board/Institutions. Merely fulfilling the basic selection criteria does notautomatically entitle a person/applicant to be called for the written examination.

(b) Scheme of Written Examination: All short listed/eligible candidates will have toappear for the written examination consisting of objective type question based onthe essential qualification as mentioned at para 5 above i.e. matriculation leveland bilingual in both English & Hindi (except for General English) coveringaspects as below:-

The test will include questions on analogies,similarities and differences, space visualization, problems solving, analysis,judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationconcepts, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbalseries etc. The test will also include question design to test candidates ability todeal with the abstract ideas and symbol and their relationship, arithmeticalcomputation and other analytical functions.(ii) Numerical aptitude: This paper will include question on problems relating tonumber system, computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions andrelationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations,percentage, Ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit & loss, discount, time& distance, ratio & time, time & work etc.(iii) General English: In addition to the testing of candidates understanding ofEnglish language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonymous,antonyms and its correct usage etc.(iv) General Awareness: The test will include questions relating to India and itsneighboring countries especially pertaining to sports, history, culture, geography,economics scene, general policy including Indian Constitution and scientificresearch etc. These questions will be such that they do not require special studyof any discipline.(v) General Awareness on Fire Fighting: This test will include questions onknowledge of Fire Fighting, operational use of Fire Fighting Equipments, lifesavings drills, causes of fire etc.

(d) Physical Endurance Test (PET): Candidates qualified in the written examinationin order of merit will be shortlisted in a ratio of 1:10 to the number of vacancies ineach category based on marks obtained in written examination to appear forPhysical Endurance Test (PET). Before conduct of PET, all the eligible candidateswill be examined for their essential physical attributes as per Para 5 above.Candidates not qualifying the essential criteria will not be permitted for PET. is mandatorily applicable for all categories of candidates including PwBD(HH) and Ex-Serviceman.(i) Responsibility of any accident/casualty occurring during the course of PETrests with the candidates and the administration will not be responsible / liable forthe same.(ii) Candidates may note that mere qualifying in written examination/PET does notentitle them for appointment for the post of Fireman. The selection would bepurely based on the position secured in written examination and qualifying in thePET. (e) If the candidates commit any mistake in filling the online application form, itcannot be corrected by this office. This office will take no responsibility of any kindfor such forms.

(f) The applicants must ensure that while filling their application form, they areproviding their valid and active e-mail IDs and mobile number as Indian Navy mayuse either mode of communication for contacting them at different stages ofrecruitment process. No change in the e-mail ID will be allowed once entered.Management will not be responsible for non receipt of email and loss of their e-mail ID password.

(g) Candidates are requested to remember the password given by them duringregistration as it is important for further login.

(h) Candidates are strongly advised to apply online well in time without waiting for thelast date for submission of online applications.

(i) Applicants should not submit multiple applications for same post. However, if dueto any unavoidable circumstances, any applicant submits multiple applicationsthen he/she must ensure that the application with higher registration number iscomplete in all respects, which is the only one to be considered.

(j) Please keep scanned copy (preferably JPEG/PDF format) of the followingdocuments ready before proceeding to fill up the online application:-(i) Passport size color photograph with light background (preferably white) withoutany obstacle covering/obstructing the face and eyes. The size of photographshould be below 150 Kb.(ii) Candidate's signature should be on a plain white paper with black ink. Thesignature should not be digitalized. It should be scanned copy of your ownsignature on paper with pen. The size of signature document should be below 150Kb.(iii) A copy of candidate's Caste Certificate, in case applying against a reservedpost.(iv) A copy of candidate's Birth Certificate/Matriculation certificate for Date ofBirth.

(v) A copy of candidate's highest education qualification proof.(vi) A copy of certificate duly indicating the proof of Ex-Servicemen issued by theCompetent Authority, if applicable.(vii) A copy of certificate showing disability for PwBDs, if applicable.

11. General Instructions/Conditions(a) Only Indian nationals can apply for the above post.(b) The applicant should ensure that he/she fulfils the eligibility and other norms

mentioned in the advertisement. Particulars furnished in the application formshould be correct in all respect. If any false or incorrect information furnished bythe applicant is detected at any stage, his/her candidature will be cancelledwithout prejudice to take legal action against him/her.

(c) The eligibility with respect to age, educational qualification, experience etc. will bedetermined as on the crucial date (i.e. closing date for online registration).

(d) No relaxation in age limit will be provided unless the category is filledappropriately at the relevant column in the online application form.

(e) Applicants are also requested to check www.bhartiseva.com & www.indian-navy.nic.in websites regularly till completion of recruitment for updates/corrigendum and any further instructions.

(f) The SC/ST applicants should be in possession of a latest copy of caste certificatefor claiming age/other relaxation and reservation and produce original certificateon demand.

(g) In case of OBCs, the applicant is required to produce, on demand, a castecertificate (valid for three financial years), specifying that the applicant does notbelong to 'Creamy layer’. The certificate should be as per format contained inGOI. DOP&T OM 36036/2/2013-Estt. (Res) dated 30 May 2014 and36033/1/2013-Estt(Res) dated 27 May 2013. (h) Armed Forces personnel applying for the posts should upload an undertaking asper GOI/DOP&T OM 36034/2/91/Estt. (SCT) dated 03 Apr 1991 to avail agerelaxation/reservation. The formats of the certificates are available onwww.bhartiseva.com.

(i) In case, the applicants working in Central/State Govt etc. fails to produce theNOC when demanded, his/her candidature will not be considered.

(j) The Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, who want to avail benefit of reservationand age relaxation should be in possession of disability certificate issued by theCompetent Authority in the prescribed format given at enclosure of GOI/ DOP&TOM 36035/1/2012-Estt. (Res) dated 29 Nov 2013. The formats of the certificatesare available on www.bhartiseva.com.

(k) As per Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification No. F. 6-1/2013-DLdated 10 Jun 2015 published in Gazette of India dated 25 Jul 2015, thequalification acquired by the individuals through open Universities/DistanceEducation Mode by the University established by an Act of Parliament or StateLegislature, Institutions Deemed to be universities under Section 3 of UniversityGrant Commission Act, 1956 and Institution of National Importance declaredunder an Act of Parliament stands automatically recognized for the purpose ofemployment to posts and services under Central Government provided they havebeen approved by the University Grant Commission Act.

(I) The vacancies shown above are provisional and may vary the vacancies may bereduced/increased or even made nil without assigning any reason thereof. Therecruitment process can be cancelled/ postponed/ suspended/terminated withoutany notice/assigning any reasons, at any stage.

(m) The scores and ranking of applicants in the recruitment examination will be madepublic through portal in accordance with DOP&T OM dated 21 Jun 16.

(p) Indian Navy has the right of cancelling the candidature of any applicant foundindulging in any malpractice/Unfair means or hiding any material information,misrepresenting facts or canvassing for candidature. Mobiles and other electronicgadgets are banned within the premises of the examination centres. Possessionof such equipment whether in use or in switch off mode, during the examinationwill be considered as use of unfair means. All such applicants will be liable to bedebarred from this examination as well as future examinations. A criminalproceeding may also be initiated.

12. Important Instructions to the candidates:-(a) Your candidature to the recruitment test is provisional subject to being found

eligible in all respects.(b) Without prejudice to criminal action/debarment from examination wherever

necessary, candidature will be summarily cancelled at any stage of therecruitment in respect of candidates found having indulged in any of thefollowing:-(i) In possession of Mobile Phones & accessories and other electronic gadgetswithin the premises of the examination centres, whether in use or in switched Offmode and on person or otherwise.(ii) Involved in malpractices.(iii) Using unfair means at examination centre.(iv) Obtaining support for his/her candidature by any means.(v) Impersonate/Procuring impersonation by any person.(vi) Submitting fabricated documents or documents which have been tamperedwith.(vii) Making statements which are incorrect or false or suppressing materialinformation,(viii) Resorting to any other irregular or improper means in connection withhis/her candidature for the examination.(ix) Misbehaving in any other manner in the examination hall with the Supervisor,Invigilator or Recruitment Staff representatives.(x) Taking away the Question Paper/Answer Sheet from the examination hall orpassing it on to unauthorized persons during the conduct of the examination.(xi) Intimidating or causing bodily harm to the staff employed for the conduct ofexamination.

(xii) To be ineligible for the examination by not fulfilling the eligibility conditionsmentioned in the advertisement.(xiii) Candidature can also be cancelled at any stage of the recruitment for anyother ground which the Competent Authority considers to be sufficient cause forcancellation of candidature.

(c) You have to make your own arrangements for boarding and lodging etc. for theRecruitment Test as per date, time and venue of examination. Applicants areadvised not to bring any valuable/costly items to the recruitment test as safekeeping of the same cannot be assured. Indian Navy will not be responsible forany loss in this regard.

(d) Companion, if any, would not be allowed to the venue or in its proximity. It istherefore, advised not to bring any companion.

(e) Candidates should check Admit card carefully and bring the discrepancies, if anyto the notice of the Invigilator before the examination.

(f) You are directed to undertake the recruitment test at your own risk, i.e. afterverifying that you fulfill the qualifications in the advertisement and admission tothe test is purely provisional. In this regard a Declaration form is to be signed bythe individual before appearing for the examination.

(g) The candidate must note that the verification of eligible condition, i.e. age,educational qualification, etc. with reference to original documents for only thosecandidates who qualify in the recruitment test will be carried out by theCompetent Authority. Unless the candidature is formally confirmed by theCompetent Authority, it continues to be 'Provisional.

(h) The decision of the Competent Authority in all matters relating to eligibility,acceptance or rejection of the candidature, penalty for false information, mode ofselection, conduct of examination(s), selection and allotment of posts to selectedcandidates will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry/correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

(j) If a candidate fails to attend on the date and time indicated for examination of theadvertised post, his/her candidature will be treated as cancelled.

(k) Calling for completion of written examination/pre-recruitment formalities does notentitle any individual for appointment for the selected post. Candidature of anyindividual may be cancelled for the said post, if at any stage, it is found that theindividual does not fulfill the eligibility criteria for the advertised post. The decisionof the Competent Authority regarding issuing of appointment order to theindividual for the selected post will be final.
