On summer nights listen for the churring calls of nightjars across the heathland and search for the pale green lights of glow worms signalling from the meadow. In winter it’s the voices of tawny owls that you’ll hear, while stonechats call from the tops of gorse bushes. How to find Bystock Pools nature reserve By bike or car: 1.5 miles from Budleigh Salterton on the B3179 take a turning left (if travelling towards Budleigh) signed Wrights Lane.
