Captive Power Solutions (Solar & Biomass)

• Target audience: Corporate clients consuming more than 1 MW of power per annum

• Investor sets up Solar Farm or Biomass Power Plant with the Client contributing only 26% Equity in the project (as required by law for the project to qualify as a Captive Power unit).

• Project is quick & easy to implement

• Client continues to get power from the state grid which is offset by power from the Solar Farm

• Client gets cheaper electricity & at the same time, builds an asset which can be monetized later

• In some cases, off-balance sheet funding can be arranged for the project, enabling the Client to use their balance sheet for core business activities

• Alternate option in some cases is 26% Equity contribution by the Client in sustainable Biomass power projects. Investor will contribute 74% + off-balance sheet Debt funding for the project

• Turnkey solution to develop biomass plantations from scratch for secure and cost-effective supply of biomass throughout

• Complete plantation management with day-to-day operations

• Land can be taken on government / private lease or acquired outright

Captive Biomass Plantations - Value Proposition

• Minimum size of contiguous land parcel – 300 acres

• Choice of feedstock – high yield but longer gestation period or lower yield but shorter gestation period or a hybrid

• Turnkey plantation set-up and management with day-to-day operations

• Facilitation of leased land in Maharashtra and outright purchase or lease in Tamil Nadu

• Assured yield of between 30-50 tons per acre per annum after site evaluation

• Calorific value of between 3800-4500 kcal per kg depending on feedstock selected

• Feedstock cost drops to around Rs. 1200 per ton compared to Rs. 3000 – 5000 in the open market

• Assured biomass off-take contracts can be facilitated for a Biomass Pellets / Briquettes sale revenue model

• Investor can visit existing Biomass Plantations to see proof of concept

Fossil Fuel (FO / LDO etc.) replacement in Industrial Boilers

• Target audience: Industrial clients using fossil fuels such as Furnace Oil, LDO, Diesel etc. in their Boilers for steam generation.

• Boilers will be modified to run on Biomass pellets / briquettes instead of fossil fuels.

• Dual fuel option - client can always switch to fossil fuels whenever required.

• BOO (Build Own Operate) – Opex-based solution where our partner will invest in Plant & Machinery, Operation & Maintenance, take care of biomass sourcing etc. Client only pays for steam generated.

• BOOT (Build Own Operate Transfer) – Partner will invest in & run the plant for a fixed period at the end of which client buys the plant at a pre-determined rate.

• Payback period – Between 1-3 yrs depending on site location.

• Target industries / applications: Aluminum melting, biscuit making furnace, metal heat treatment, crumb rubber preparation, hot air generators, fluidized bed driers, rotary kiln, industries using Boilers for steam generation etc.
