While the founder of Raynord was a pharmacology student at university in Japan after the war, he saw many people suffering from skin problems and decided he wanted to do something to help them.

In 1967, he founded a brand new pharmaceutical company. After much experimentation in the lab, he succeeded in creating his first product, which he marketed under the name of Pamyrol, a brand dedicated to products that engage the innate power of the human body.

Counting the years spent on research, we have focused on the skin of the scalp for over fifty years, refusing to compromise on anything less than the best.

Over the past half century, we have continued our research on the human body and endeavored to find treatments for issues ranging from skin blemishes to hair woes, dark spots and wrinkles.

Pamyrol HaircareJapanese women are famed for their lustrous black hair. One of the most important secrets in maintaining beautiful, healthy-looking hair is to use haircare products that gently clean without drying out the hair or scalp. We studied hair washing techniques in Japan dating back to the 19th century Meiji Era, when women used products containing ingredients such as algae extract, soba powder and liquid charcoal ash. An important discovery was that a lather is not necessary to wash hair effectively.

With rapid modernization in Japan, women started to experiment with and enjoy new hair fashions that relied on perms and coloring. Yet at the same time, many women worried that these new products were not good for their hair. In turn, haircare product manufacturers began to develop products specifically for damaged hair.

Slon SkincareA porcelain-like complexion has traditionally been the ideal of beauty in Japan. To maintain this fine-grained skin tone, effective cleansing and proper hydration is vital. Yet washing with soap tends to dramatically dehydrate the skin. To counteract the effects of washing with soap, Japanese women long used products such as “nightingale powder” (uguisu no fun) and rice-bran to restore a healthy level of skin hydration.

“Increased moisture for your skin” was the driving principle behind Slon Skin Essence pre-wash lotion and Slon Cleansing Lotion face wash.
