Ke Ala ʻIke Native Hawaiian Achievement Program
Ke Ala ʻIke was launched in 2009 to inspire all Leeward CC students to hāpai (carry, fulfill) their kuleana (responsibilities) in academics and Hawaiian culture while focused on excellence and achievement.
When students apply, they become “Ke Ala ʻIke Scholars,” who will receive all the best academic and cultural information the Hālau has to offer. All Leeward students who cherish Hawaiʻi and her language, history, and culture are welcomed.
"At each ceremony, I felt a strong stirring to continue in my college education and a desire to see more educated Hawaiian women holding positions in the college system who are not just professors, but chancellor, vice chancellor, positions like that."
