• Ladders were used to get to the different levels

• Corn was their staple food (also called maize)• “three sisters”-corn, beans, and squash• Had to use irrigation to grow crops • Made clay pottery to hold water

• Earth lodges made of grass, mud, and bark• Used teepees when hunting buffalo(travois for moving them)

• Summer and winter, the Pawnees hunted buffalo on the Plains.
• Spring and fall, they stayed in their lodges and grew crops, such as the three sisters.
Clothing
• Used buffalo skin for clothing, with feathers for decoration

Shelter
• Chickees-frame made out of logs and roof was covered in leaves or grass. There were no walls, and the floor was built off the ground to keep out water and snakes.
Food
• Grew crops-three sisters, potatoes, melons• Hunted rabbits and forest animals• Gathered seeds, berries and nuts
Clothing
• Light-weight and cool• Made from woven grass, cotton or animal
skins
