MDA members who have paid their 2016 dues. We have reduced the registration fee for spouses, guests and family members to just $10 and will no longer charge an onsite fee for these categories.

Registration for dental team members is an affordable $25 for all three days. Registration gives you access to the exhibit floor, table clinics, social events, plus three elective credits just for attending. Even better, as a registered attendee, you can choose from over 80 affordable continuing education programs presented by some of the best clinicians in the dental industry – all located conveniently within driving distance of your home or practice!

The MDA Scientific Session Committee is excited to offer a spectacular line-up of nationally recognized speakers, presenting cutting edge research and techniques to benefit you and your practice. These three days will provide outstanding opportunities for the entire dental team. We look forward to seeing you next April!

Advantages to registering NOW for Give Kids a SmileGive Kids a Smile, the Minnesota Dental Association’s charitable dentistry program for kids, is just a few short months away. The upcoming event is February 5 and 6, 2016. If you are planning to register for the event, we recommend doing so right now. In the next couple of weeks, we will be compiling the online clinic list that patients will use to find a provider. The list will be live on the MDA website on January 1, 2016. If your clinic needs the MDA’s assistance in finding patients, this is the perfect opportunity to get your name out there, as not only will patients find it when they’re on the MDA website, but the list will also be used by United Way 211 operators. In addition, registering right now helps us to know which areas to focus on for our advertising campaign, which also benefits participating clinics.

Registering is quick and easy, just go to mndental.org/gkas and click on the “Volunteer” tab on the left side of the page. If you aren’t interested in hosting an event, there are several other ways to be a part of the event, including volunteering at another clinic in your area, providing post-event care for more extensive cases at your convenience, or donating to the Minnesota Dental Foundation. If you have any questions, please call Stephanie Leclair at 612-767-4283.

Attend the January Women’s Seminar All dentists and dental students are invited to join us on January 16, 2016, for the annual Women’s Seminar, featuring Jill Davis who will present “The Gifts of Personalities.” Ms. Davis is a life coach, a popular motivational speaker,

We have found that many clinics thought they were registered for the Minnesota event, but were actually registered with the ADA. Please double check your records and if you are not registered with the MDA, please do so right away. It is very important to register with the MDA, as it provides us with an accurate count of services provided, number of volunteers and children helped. Thank you!

Loan refinancing program now availableIn an effort to help ease the burden of student debt, the ADA recently announced an exclusive endorsement of Darien Rowayton Bank (DRB), which allows ADA members an opportunity to refinance/consolidate existing federal and private student loans at a lower rate. For best qualified borrowers, DRB’s rates for refinancing existing undergraduate and graduate school loans currently start at 1.90 percent APR for variable loans, and 3.50 percent fixed APR. In addition, qualifying ADA members receive an additional 0.25 percent rate reduction for the life of the loan, as long as membership remains current.

The average dentist graduates with $247,000 in student loan debt, and dentists who refinance with DRB can save an average of $38,000 with a fixed rate. Answers to frequently asked questions, along with information about the quick and easy pre-qualifying application process can be found on the DRB website at: student.drbank.com/ada

Kudos to award winners!November was a big month for MDA award winners. At the American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists conference in Washington, D.C., two awards were presented: Dr. Bill Stein, Executive Editor of Northwest Dentistry, received the Distinguished Dental Editors Award; and Dr. Michael Perpich received the International College of Dentists Leadership Article award for his article “Changing Times” (Northwest Dentistry, Jan-Feb 2014). Also, receiving an award last month was Juli Schneider, Exhibits and Meetings Manager for the MDA, who was presented with the Association Volunteer of the Year award by the Midwest Society of Association Executives at their Leadership Conference in St. Cloud.
