Developing country Parties will undertake nationally appropriate mitigation actions in the context of “sustainable development” enabled by technology, finance and capacity building support, in a measurable, reportable and verifiable manner
Background
COP 15 requested developing country Parties to submit to the secretariat information on their NAMAs;
55 Parties have submitted their NAMAs. In addition a joint submission from African Group on NAMA in agriculture sector;

A Project Proposal on “Appropriate Mitigation Actions in Energy Generation and End-Use sectors“ has been submitted to the GEF and it will implement in next year.
A technical support project has been started with UNDP-MDG Carbon to Prepare NAMAs for Transport sector
Energy Sector NAMA
Objective: To support appropriate climate change mitigation actions in the energy generation and end-use sectors as part of the initiatives to achieve the GHG mitigation targets of Sri Lanka
Component 1: Business as usual energy generation and end-use sector baselines at national and sub-national level.
Component 2: Mitigation options for the energy generation and end-use sectors
Component 3: Implementation of appropriate mitigation actions in the energy generation and end-use sectors
Component 4: MRV system and a national registry for mitigation actions in the energy generation and end-use sectors
Transport Sector NAMA
Based on the feasibility study done by Ministry of Transport, on Bus Rapid Transit for Colombo Metropolitan area preparation of NAMA proposal for transport sector has been initiated.
Objective of this NAMA proposal is the reduction of GHG emissions through reducing traffic congestion
