NATIONAL NAGPRAThe Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act

(NAGPRA) was enacted on November 16, 1990, to address the

rights of lineal descendants, Indian tribes, and Native Hawaiian

organizations to Native American cultural items, including human

remains, funerary objects, sacred objects, and objects of cultural

patrimony

Native American ancestry

• Any object that may be a part of a burial or

ceremony, which is reasonably believed to have

been placed with or near individual human

remains at the time of death or later

made exclusively for burial purposes, or to

contain human remains, and are linked with an
