en years already and so much progress made! Since itsmodest beginnings in 1997, the National Gallery ofCanada Foundation has made ongoing efforts to pro-

mote the establishment of ties and partnerships with a view toensuring donations from the private sector for the Gallery. Inits first decade the Foundation has been successful in generat-ing more than $25 million for the Gallery, with $10 million inendowments. I take great pride in celebrating with all of youthe tenth anniversary of the Foundation, which was officiallycreated on June 28, 1997 (see Foundation News in the Summer2007 issue of Vernissage.)

To mark this anniversary, the Foundation chose to supportthe Ron Mueck exhibition, which ended on May 6 at the NGC.This exhibition was a resounding success, drawing a recordnumber of visitors and new members.

This summer, after a ten-year absence, Pierre-AugusteRenoir is back in the National Capital – this time with hismagnificent landscapes, which will be featured as of June 8. Topresent this long-awaited exhibition, Sun Life Financial haspartnered with the Gallery and its Foundation for the secondyear in a row. I wish to take this opportunity to thank Sun Lifefor its generous support.

A founding member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors,Rob MacLellan of TD Bank Financial Group, will be steppingdown in June. Rob has made an exemplary contribution to theFoundation’s success for close to ten years. His achievementsinclude the role he played in the travelling exhibitionItuKiagâtta! Inuit Sculpture from the Collection of the TD Bank FinancialGroup, which crossed Canada before ending in New York Citylast winter. During the past year, other members of the Boardof Directors have also completed their terms and I take thisopportunity to pay tribute and convey to them our mostheartfelt thanks: Michal Hornstein, Jean Picard, Zeev Vered –all members of the Founding Partners’ Circle –, MyriamOuimet and Shawn Klerer.

In conclusion, I wish to extend my best wishes to all ourpatrons, partners, members of the Board, staff and volunteerswho have supported the Gallery and its Foundation in the pastdecade and who are committed to fulfilling our institution’smandate. We will maintain the same passion and the samededication as we pursue our mission in the coming years.

ix ans déjà, et que de chemin parcouru! Depuis sesmodestes débuts en 1997, la Fondation du Musée desbeaux-arts du Canada n’a cessé de déployer maints

efforts pour favoriser l’établissement de liens et de partenariatsafin de promouvoir les dons privés au Musée. Forte de saréussite, la Fondation a généré jusqu’à ce jour plus de 25 mil-lions de dollars pour le Musée, dont 10 millions en dotations.C’est donc avec énormément de fierté que je désire célébreravec vous tous le 10e anniversaire de la Fondation, qui a offi-ciellement vu le jour le 28 juin 1997 (voir Nouvelles de laFondation dans l’édition de l’été 2007 de Vernissage).

Comme vous le savez, afin de souligner cet anniversaire, laFondation a choisi d’appuyer l’exposition Ron Mueck, qui pre-nait fin le 6 mai dernier au MBAC. L’exposition a connu unsuccès retentissant, en attirant un nombre record de visiteursainsi que plusieurs nouveaux membres.

Cet été, après 10 ans d’absence, c’est le retour de Pierre-Auguste Renoir dans la Capitale nationale et cette fois-ci, cesont ses magnifiques paysages qui seront à l’honneur dès le 8juin. Afin de présenter cette exposition tant attendue, laFinancière Sun Life s’est associée au Musée et sa Fondationpour une deuxième année consécutive. Je profite de l’occasionpour remercier Sun Life de leur généreux appui.

Membre fondateur du conseil d’administration de laFondation, Rob MacLellan du Groupe Financier Banque TD,quittera ses fonctions en juin. Rob a contribué de façon exem-plaire au succès de la Fondation depuis près de 10 ans. Parmises réalisations, notons son implication dans la tournéeItuKiâgatta! Sculptures inuites de la collection du Groupe Financier BanqueTD qui a parcouru le Canada avant de s’arrêter à New Yorkl’hiver dernier. Au cours de la dernière année, d’autres mem-bres du conseil ont également terminé leur mandat et je profitede l’occasion pour leur rendre hommage et leur transmettrenos remerciements les plus sincères : Michal Hornstein, JeanPicard, Zeev Vered - tous des membres du Cercle des parte-naires fondateurs -, Myriam Ouimet et Shawn Klerer.

En terminant, je désire transmettre mes meilleurs voeux àtous nos mécènes, partenaires, membres du conseil, employéset bénévoles qui ont appuyé le Musée et sa Fondation aucours de la dernière décennie et qui ont à cœur la destiné del’institution. C’est avec la même passion et le même dévoue-ment que nous poursuivrons notre mission pour les années àvenir.
