National Faculty Development Programme

Objective: To improve the quality of medical training by training the teachers

Aim:

➢ sensitize teachers about new concepts in teaching and assessment methods

➢ develop knowledge and clinical skills required for performing the role of competent and

effective teacher, administrator, researcher and mentor

➢ assist clinicians to acquire competency in communication and behavioral skills

➢ update knowledge using modern information and research methodology tools.

1. Basic Course Workshop in Medical Education Technologies

The Medical Council of India, by the MCI Regulations on Graduate Medical Education,

1997, made it mandatory for all medical colleges to establish Medical Education Units (MEUs)

or departments in order to enable faculty members to avail modern education technology for

teaching. In order to boost this activity, MCI has been conducting Basic Course Workshops in

Medical Education Technologies through selected Regional Centres, since July 2009. These

Regional Centres are located at institutions which have trained manpower in Medical Education

Technologies (MET). These are:

2. Advance Course in Medical Education

• The Medical Council of India had upgraded 10 Regional Centers in MET as Nodal Centres to conduct Advance Course in Medical Education.

Ten Nodal Centres have been recognized by MCI. These are:
