Foreword
The National Council for Childrens Services (NCCS) and the Department of Childrens Services
(DCS) are charged with implementing and enforcing the provisions of Section 53 of the
Constitution and the Children Act, 2001. NCCS has a key mandate of Co-ordination of service
provision in the Childrens sector.
The increase in the level of awareness on child rights and welfare among the citizens of Kenya
has seen an increase in the number of service providers in the sector. This has made coordination
of service provision somewhat challenging; service providers are duplicating effort, others are
operating below minimum standards while others, are operating with no guidelines or minimum
standards.
To overcome these challenges and ensure that service delivery to the children of Kenya is not
only efficient but also effective, NCCS and the DCS in collaboration with other stakeholders in the
sector conducted a National Mapping of all Childrens Service Providers in the Country. This
exercise culminated in the development of a National Directory for Service Providers in the
Childrens Sector.
This Directory is available in both hard and soft copies and will be updated regularly and our hope
is that it will reach all the stakeholders in the sector.
I call upon each one of you to put it to good use in your continued endeavor to safeguard the
rights and welfare of the children of Kenya.

Acknowledgement
The development of the National Childrens Service Providers Directory was a response to the
need for enhanced coordination of service provision in the Childrens sector for efficient and
effective service delivery.
This Directory was developed under the leadership of the immediate former Chairperson of
NCCS, Mrs. Hellen Waweru and we would like to register our gratitude for the same.
We would also like to express our immense gratitude to the NCCS secretariat and the Department
of Childrens Services whose dedication, hardwork and selflessness saw the successful
completion of this Directory.

International for their unmatched financial and technical support.
