Objectives of the Legislation The Act objective is to promote and secure the safety and health of
persons in the workplace.
The Regulations objective is to spell out the specific requirements of the
legislation and to prescribe minimum standards
A code of provides practical guidance on acceptable ways of achieving
compliance with legislation and must be followed
A guidance note provides detailed examination of information on the
requirements of legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice or
matters relating to occupational safety and health.
