1. International

a. US President continue to support hydroxychloroquine to prevent COVID though

US FDA has said its efficacy and safety were unproven.

b. As per fresh data released by US Government; another 1.3 Mn have filed for

jobless benefits due to impact of COVID.

c. India has conveyed its concerns to US about a new immigration order that could

force a large number of Indian students to return home.

d. US Health officials have said campaign rally held by President Donald Trump

in Tulsa, has contributed to a rise in COVID cases.

e. China’s SinoVac is starting Phase III trials of its potential COVID vaccine,

moving into final stage of vaccine development.

f. Morocco has extended its lockdown till 10 August to prevent COVID.

g. UK has announced to re-open theatres and saloons further easing the

lockdown.

h. Credit ratings agency S&P Global has estimated that COVID crisis will cost banks

$2.1 trillion losses on loans by end of next year.

i. China's aviation industry suffers from $4.9 Bn loss in second quarter due to

COVID.

j. Emirates has announced to lay off more pilots and cabin crew as Gulf airline

shrinks its workforce due to COVID.

k. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced that Asia Cup 2020 has been

postponed until next year due to pandemic.

l. Hong Kong has suspended all schools due to spike in COVID cases.

2. National

a. Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing has lauded NCOC’s role in mitigating

COVID crisis in the country.

b. Federal Government has issued guidelines for upcoming Eid-Ul-Azha to mitigate

spread of COVID.

c. Pakistan and China are considering a proposal to resume border trade from 15

Jul.

d. PIA resumes regular flight operation to UAE under COVID guidelines.

e. Pakistan’s E-commerce and digital economy has received a huge sales boost

during pandemic

f. K-P Health Minister has said that province is expanding its testing capacity,

despite drop in COVID cases.

g. Governor Sindh Imran Ismail said that hunger hotspots are a bigger concern

than COVID.

h. Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that decline in

COVID cases is due to improvement in SOPs adoption by masses.
