The spirit of playaround the worldThe National Childrens Museum contracted AldrichPears todesign their Our World gallery. The goal of the gallery is to engagefamilies in exploring the geographical and cultural landscape ofour planet. Experiences focus on children 8 years and older.

APAs conceptual approach fosters awareness of the differencesand similarities among people, places and cultures around the

world. The concept aims to develop childrens curiosity and helpthem understand themselves and their place on our planet. Theapproach emphasizes interpretive experiences that help childrenmake connections with other cultures. Families can listen to thesounds of a streetscape in Mumbai and Paris. They can learntraditional dances performed during festivals in China and Spain.Families can also discover how children in Madagascar andZimbabwe get to school.

Pedagogical theory and practice related to development ofchildrens cognitive, physical, emotional, civic and social skillsinformed all experiences.
