This programme consists of five compulsory modules and four optional modules. To achieve this qualification 105 credits need to be gained in total. Five compulsory modules: Rights and Responsibilities Understanding legislation, safety and te Tiriti, in relation to mental health and addiction support work services. Building Relationships Establishing and maintaining supportive relationships with consumers/ tāngata whaiora. Mental Health Realities Understanding mental health and addiction issues across the lifespan and interventions and treatments that contribute to recovery. Wellbeing Understand the factors, interventions, models and support to maintain wellness. Interventions in Partnership Describe aspects of working with families and whanau in mental health support work; clarify the relationship with the family or whanau of a consumer/tāngata whaiora; and to provide the family or whanau with information and education. Optional Electives [optional modules (25 credits each) offered in 2014 include the following (choose one)]: > Addiction > Forensic FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Graduates of this programme can apply to enrol in the Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing Māori, Bachelor of Nursing Pacific, the Diploma in Enrolled Nursing at Whitireia.
