President’s Report

Dear Sisters and Brothers, I hope everyone had a great 4th of July holiday and enjoyed the Union negotiated pay for having the day off with family and friends. The employee survey results are back and the Co. has shared them with us. We have improved in all areas and factory management has told us that it is a big positive for us and they intend to use the infor-mation to move Horicon forward with senior manage-ment in their factory plans for the future. Even be-fore the survey results were in, we’ve partnered with management to attempt to put action plans in place to make JDHW a better place for us all. Members of the Shop Committee and I have been involved in WIG’s (Wildy Important Goals) and providing input into projects based on what we hear from you. One of the examples is the special project trainers in the UV group. We are trying to set up a better training process for new members entering those dept.’s so team earnings don’t take a hit as the new members come into the teams and learn the job. This was a result of members telling us the training process needs improvement when we surveyed multiple members on each team. This process will be evolv-ing and continued to be improved on, so please help with it as much as you can, it should only help our teams and earnings in the long run. There are numerous projects going on within the 3 WIG groups. They will not be completed overnight, but I hope we are all seeing some improvements in the way things work here. Especially with schedul-ing, as we receive a lot of complaints about running out of parts, constantly changing hours and lack of notice for Saturday work. The number of complaints we were receiving has seemed to have gone down some, but some of that is probably attributed to en-tering our lower sales period of the year. I’m hoping it’s also because the scheduling processes are get-ting better. If they are not, please relay your issues to your stewards and the Shop Committee so we can talk with management about your concerns and try to correct them. Each Thursday I pull a name from our membership for the Solidarity drawing to win $10 in merchandise from your Union Hall (t-shirts, coffee mugs, hats, decks of cards are all $10 or under). All IAM mem-bers are eligible to win; the only requirement is that you must be wearing something Union related. A Union t-shirt, Union hat, Union pin or sticker etc. Since we’ve started the drawing, here are the mem-bers who have had their names drawn:

$10 per week $1290 in savings

$25 per week $3225 in savings

$50 per week $6450 in savings

$75 per week $9675 in savings

To those of you who were wearing something Union to show our solidarity, congrats on winning! On June 30, the Shop Com. and Labor Relations dept. attended a Generational Diversity Class put on by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services Dept. This class mainly talked about the differences between the generations, their values, how each solves problems, feedback styles and processes to effectively communicate between everyone. It was an interesting class and I plan to use some of the information to try different ways to get information out to the membership. Attention Motorcycle Riders: The Annual Ride for Guides will be on July 26th. Registration forms are at the Union Hall. Last year over 70 bikes went on this scenic ride, so please join in and help raise some funds for our Union’s charity, The Guide Dogs. If you start putting some money away this week, you’ll have the following by contract time:

Shop Committee Report

Benefit Presentation On July 2nd members that were hired core in the last few years were invited to a benefit presenta-tion and dinner at the Union Hall with the Shop Committee and Company leadership. The mem-bers were given an opportunity to ask questions to the shop committee, upper management, and labor relations. The shop committee and labor relations showed a presentation highlighting some of the benefits they receive after gaining seniority. I felt this went over great and encour-age anyone to call the Union hall with any ques-tions you have with benefits whether you’re a new hire or have been here several years. We are planning to have another presentation for new hires from May and the ones coming in Septem-ber/October time frame. Shutdown The Company still states that there will be limited work over shutdown. Maintenance and those that do not have vacation will be asked to work and anything beyond that will be very limited. We are starting to talk over an October shutdown and what effects that has on the factory. There are several projects and training the Company is looking at and they plan on working the core em-ployees during this time. Retirement Program All members signed up for ESPP or SRI retire-ment will complete the 2014 contractual year openings. No additional spots will be available until Oct 1 2014. There has been an agreement between the Union and Company to allow up to 30 spots for SRI or ESPP as long as they are re-tired between the window of October 1 and Janu-ary 31. This applies to the 2014-2015 and the 2015-2016 contract year. The previous agree-ment only allowed 15 spots. Ride and Drive I would like to thank the Woman’s Reach group and the volunteers for their work on the ride and drive. I have received a lot of positive comments and the members can’t wait till next year.

Survey Survey results are in and everyone should be get-ting the opportunity to see their own depart-ment’s results and how we did as a factory. I’m happy to say that the results moved in a positive direction. No matter what the results say I believe Horicon has a highly engaged and hardworking work force and nobody can take that away. EWLR Overtime tracking EWLR (Enterprise Wide Labor Reporting) will be coming soon to Horicon and there has been a few tests being run as we speak. With that the over-time spreads we are all accustom to will be going away. The new spreads will be a excel spread sheet. The shop committee and members of man-agement have been working on this and will roll it out to the stewards and supervisors when com-plete. Employment Levels as of July 1, 2014 315 Hourly 513 Incentive 828 Total Members Working 261 Supplemental Members Working 567 Core Members Working 24 Members on Leave / LTD Grievances Current grievance log includes: Step A - 0 Step B – 3 Step C – 0 Step D – 0 (Arbitration) Benefit Appeals – 0 The Shop Committee hopes everyone had a safe

and enjoyable Fourth of July.

In Solidarity,

Jeremy L. Terlisner Shop Committee Chairman
