2000 - 2005 Blevins Junior High School, Photography, Crafts, Art & Mass Media Teacher
Ongoing responsibility for budget, supplies and photographic equipment; a display of 2D and 3D artwork; and served
on the technology committee. Served as mentor teacher for probationary Poudre School District teacher and CSU
PDS students. Cooperating teacher for CSU student teachers in 2001, 2002 and 2004. Worked on collaborative
projects with music, creative writing, drama, and history as well as a writing/darkroom project involving Photo II
students and 5th grade students from Johnson Elementary School.
Lessons and projects developed at Blevins have been presented at the Colorado Art Education Association
Conference; the National Association for Gifted Children Conference, the Colorado Gifted & Talented Association
State Conference, and district training for Gifted & Talented coordinators. Project articles have also been accepted for
publication by Gifted Child Today and Arts & Activities.
Designed personal web page that includes student work and lesson plans. Developed internet based research projects
for both Photo I and Photo II. Developed curriculum for an exploratory photography class for 7th grade students.
Students explored images in historical context, and through production activities including flip books and claymation;
computer and copy image manipulation, sunprints and photo mosaic compositions with pinhole images.
Developed timeline for filming of Friday Trivia in Mass Media; introduced the inclusion of publication media and
advertising; and was instrumental in changing the format from analog to digital technology.
Served on district interview team for Staff Development Trainer and Mentor Coordinator.
Created numerous Power Point Presentation tutorials to be used as introduction to new concepts/projects in the
classroom. These self-paced tutorials can be accessed via the school server and can be used as a test review or to
bring absent students up to date.
Student work has received recognition in both local and state competition. Submitted student work for Discovery
Center photo contest, students placed 1st, 3rd and 4th. Worked with student teacher and CSU Technology support
to develop and implement technology based project for Photo II students. Students integrated traditional
photographs, digital photographs and music to create iMovies for the Colorado Anne Frank Competition, students
placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in regional competition and 1st in state competition.
Co-recipient of 2002 AT&T Emerging Technology Award grant for collaborative project between photography
and social studies.
Received $1100 PTO mini-grant to purchase eMac for Mass Media digital video editing.
Received 2001 Community Foundation E3 Grant for collaborative project with Creative Writing and Drama
classes.
2001 proposal approved for graphics mini-computer lab. PTO mini-grants to purchase darkroom bags and
enlarging filters.
Received Community Foundation grants to fund field trips in 2003 and 2002.

Development of a diverse curriculum including a variety of two- and three-dimensional activities for each grade

More Than Mud Pies. A week-long exploration of clay for primary elementary children. Basic clay building
technquies from pinch pots to simple vessels.
Where Do Lines Hide in a Picture? Two classes, one for primary and one for intermediate students. Participants
expressed themselves in a variety of art mediums leading to the creation of a decorated three-piece wooden table
screen.
More Than Mud Pies...The Sequel. Intermediate elementary students practiced clay-building techniques and
combined them to create projects including bas relief and clay boxes.

Discovery Center of Idaho 1996 da Vinci Day Camp. Developed and implemented five day (25
hour) integrated art and science camp for students ages 10 to 12. Designed art activities focusing on
art history and the science of art media. Students completed large wall mural (approximately 10’x38’)
in addition to exploring a variety of media through hands-on activities including petrogylphs, bas
relief sculpture, and plaster fresco.

Developed Art Mom program at McMillan Elementary School, assisted development of similar programs
throughout Meridian School District. Involved volunteer recruitment, program organization, and training of
teachers and volunteers. Experience teaching art enrichment curriculum to grades K-5, including Special
Education and Gifted student populations.
