June 24-26, 2014

Sports Officiated: Table Tennis

Regarding the intramurals of SLSU- LS, as a MAPEH Major we are assigned in different sports and I was given a chance to officiate Table Tennis with my two fellow classmates. We are the one who helped Mrs. Sacupla and Mr. Babat who are the cooperating teacher in the said sport.

Thursday, in SLSU Gymnasium at 7:00 am- 12:00 noon, the competition for table tennis is completed. It is a privileged that we became an officials for the table tennis competition, wherein we applied the knowledge and skills we learned in officiating this sport. At first, I felt nervous in a thought that what if I’ve had a wrong call or scored wrong but later, I knew that the players themselves are disciplined and honest.

There are four tables for the secondary level and four tables also for elementary level. In this event, I first officiated as scorer but later on, Mrs. Sacupla told me to be the umpire and scorer at the same time so that the game will be finished early, and I obliged. I may sometimes didn’t see that it’s a “let” or sometimes I hardly decide who has a score, but the students are there to helped me for they are honest, and it makes me feel at ease and fear-free at all.

The competition goes on and I served as umpire and scorer so at 12:00 noon, the game is finished. There are students who won the title and will be competing for the Unit Meet.

NARRTIVE REPORT

Grade and Section: Grade 8- Polaris

Time: 10:35- 11:35 a.m

Topic: Responsible Parenthood

I started the class with checking of their attendance and right after this, I let them arrange

their chairs. I also let them look at their classmates and give them their sweetest smile to catch

their attention and then I played a video from the commercial about the family planning since the

topic we’ve discussed is about responsible parenthood. After watching the video clip, I grouped

them into two and gave them 5 statements regarding a family and I also gave them the pictures of

thumbs up and thumbs down. What they did is they paste the thumbs up picture on the box after

each statement if they are agree with it, on the other hand they paste thumbs down if not. A two

volunteer from each group goes in front and justify their answer. The activity serves as my

motivation.

The discussion regarding the responsible parenthood follows right after the activity. I

asked them some question about the topic and I’m glad that they raised their hands and share

their opinions. I prepared a powerpoint presentation of the lesson so that the students will be able

to read the information about the topic and air their ideas in it. The flow of discussion is smooth

and for the application, I gave each student a picture of a father, mother and a child and I let

them right their ideal family by writing the characteristics they want for their ideal husband/ wife

and child/ children at the back of the picture and when they’re done writing those characteristics,

they post it on a house- shaped cartolina I prepared. The activity does not end with it, I surprised

them by telling them that I will call a name and he/ she will go in front and read aloud what he/

she writes, they shout whenever I picked those pictures they post and laughed whenever their

classmates read what they’ve written. The activity seemed enjoyable for them.

When I was about to give them five questions for the short quiz, my panellists stopped

me and told me that it is already okay and we will cut the class. So I just told them to stand for

the closing prayer.
